Job description

About Stem Health

Stem Health is reimagining the primary care experience for individuals who want a more thoughtful relationship with their health. Physician-led and membership-based, we combine medical excellence with the warmth of hospitality anchored in a beautifully designed flagship clinic at First Canadian Place, opening September 2026. Our care model is relationship-based, data-informed, and built on time, trust, and exceptional service.

Position Summary

Breast health screening is one of the most important preventive interventions we offer and the quality of that experience, from how a member is greeted to the clinical precision of every image acquired, reflects the standard we hold across everything we do at Stem Health. We are looking for a registered and compassionate Mammography Technologist (MRT) to bring that standard to life in our imaging suite.

In this role, you will perform 2D digital and 3D tomosynthesis mammography as part of our members' comprehensive preventive health assessments, working closely with our physician team to ensure every examination is technically excellent and every member feels informed, respected, and cared for. This role is ideal for someone who combines clinical precision with exceptional interpersonal skill and who understands that for many members, a mammogram is as much an emotional experience as a clinical one.

Key Responsibilities

Mammographic imaging

  • Perform high-quality screening and diagnostic mammography examinations using 2D digital and 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) technology, in accordance with CMRITO standards, CAMRT best practices, and applicable provincial guidelines.
  • Position members and apply appropriate breast compression with precision and care maximizing diagnostic image quality while minimizing discomfort and radiation dose.
  • Acquire additional views (MLO, CC, spot compression, magnification) as clinically indicated to ensure complete and diagnostically actionable imaging studies.
  • Review each set of images in real time for technical quality, completeness, and positioning accuracy before releasing the study, applying corrective technique as needed.

Member preparation and experience

  • Greet and welcome members to the imaging suite, confirming identity, verifying the imaging request, and reviewing clinical history, relevant symptoms, and contraindications before proceeding.
  • Explain the mammography procedure clearly and compassionately addressing questions, acknowledging any anxiety, and ensuring each member feels informed, respected, and in control throughout.
  • Provide sensitive, unhurried care with particular attentiveness to members who may be anxious, symptomatic, or undergoing their first mammogram.
  • Maintain privacy and dignity throughout every stage of the examination, upholding the highest standard of member-centred care.

3D tomosynthesis and advanced imaging

  • Perform 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT) studies to produce layered, high-resolution breast images that reduce recall rates and improve detection of cancers in dense breast tissue.
  • Apply tomosynthesis-specific positioning and compression techniques to ensure optimal image quality and minimize radiation exposure in accordance with ALARA principles.
  • Maintain current knowledge of DBT acquisition protocols, reconstruction modes, and evolving clinical standards in breast imaging technology.

Equipment quality control and safety

  • Perform daily, weekly, and periodic quality control tests on mammography equipment as required by regulatory standards and manufacturer protocols, maintaining accurate QC logs.
  • Ensure all equipment is calibrated, functioning optimally, and compliant with applicable radiation safety regulations at all times.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting with the operations team and manufacturer support as needed.
  • Adhere strictly to infection control protocols and maintain an imaging suite that is clean, organized, and appropriately prepared for each member.

Clinical collaboration and documentation

  • Collaborate with physicians, nurse practitioners, and the care team to communicate imaging findings, flag urgent or suspicious results, and ensure studies are integrated into each member's care plan and Unified Health Story.
  • Escalate any clinically significant findingsincluding masses, architectural distortion, suspicious calcifications, or asymmetriesto the reviewing physician promptly and professionally.
  • Document all procedures, QC records, and imaging data accurately and promptly within the clinic's EHR and digital imaging systems (PACS).
  • Support the development and refinement of breast imaging protocols, member education materials, and diagnostic workflows as the clinic's program evolves.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO) in the Mammography stream required.
  • Current membership with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) and successful completion of CAMRT Mammography Certificates (Mammography 1 and 2), or equivalent.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical mammography experience in a screening clinic, hospital-based breast health program, or private imaging setting.
  • Proficiency in both 2D full-field digital mammography (FFDM) and 3D digital breast tomosynthesis (DBT).
  • Experience with Ontario Breast Screening Program (OBSP) protocols is a significant asset.
  • Current BLS/BCLS certification.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills warm, professional, and sensitive in member-facing interactions, particularly with members undergoing screening for the first time or following a clinical concern.
  • Meticulous attention to positioning accuracy, image quality, and technical protocol adherence.
  • Proficiency with digital imaging systems, PACS, and EHR platforms.
  • Experience in a private clinic, executive health, or preventive medicine setting is a strong asset.

Ideal Candidate

You are a technologist who holds two things in equal regard: the clinical precision of every image you acquire, and the human experience of every member in your care. You understand that a mammogram is not just a diagnostic study, it can be an anxious, vulnerable moment and you have the warmth, patience, and professionalism to make it feel otherwise. You are technically rigorous, consistent in your QC, and proactive about staying current with evolving breast imaging standards. You take quiet pride in producing images that give the clinical team exactly what they need to make the right call.

Why Join Stem Health

  • Join the founding diagnostic team at a physician-led, membership-based clinic opening at First Canadian Place in September 2026.
  • A preventive health model where breast imaging is a valued, integrated part of every eligible member's health story not a siloed screening service.
  • State-of-the-art digital and tomosynthesis mammography equipment in a beautifully designed, privacy-forward imaging suite.
  • Thoughtful, unhurried scheduling the time to be thorough, attentive, and present with every member, every visit.
  • Meaningful growth: help us define the standard for compassionate, high-quality preventive breast imaging in Canada.
