This is a hybrid role in Toronto

Role Overview

Are you a leader who cares deeply about people, impact, and outcomes?

This role is an opportunity to lead with purpose-developing people, shaping behaviours, and delivering outcomes that directly impact how our business performs every day. The scorecards delivered by this team are used daily by frontline employees across Financial Planning and Broker Edge to guide decisions, drive performance, and determine compensation outcomes. As a result, your work will have a clear and tangible influence on how our salesforce operates and the value we deliver to our clients.

We are looking for a collaborative leader who brings a strong "we over me" mindset-someone who builds trust, leans into partnership, and prioritizes collective success. You take pride in delivering high-quality work, hold yourself and others accountable for outcomes, and are energized by improving how things work rather than maintaining the status quo. You naturally seek to simplify complexity and drive meaningful improvements, balance people leadership with business impact, and engage constructively with partners to align on the best outcomes.

The Senior Manager, Financial Planning & Broker Edge Performance Management is a high-impact, high-visibility leadership role responsible for the design, delivery, and evolution of scorecard and performance management frameworks supporting BMO's Financial Planning workforce and Broker Edge third-party channel. Sitting at the intersection of strategy, performance management, compensation, and analytics, this role ensures that scorecards effectively drive performance, coaching, and compensation outcomes across a complex, multi-channel environment.

This role requires strong strategic judgment, partner leadership, and operational excellence, with regular exposure to senior leadership and accountability for translating enterprise priorities into scalable, data-driven solutions. It is best suited for a leader who is motivated by making a difference at scale-someone who understands that behind every metric and scorecard are real people, real behaviours, and real business outcomes.

Key Accountabilities

Strategic Alignment
  • Translate enterprise and line-of-business strategies into effective performance management frameworks.
  • Ensure scorecards support key priorities including advice-led growth, digital transformation, and simplification.
  • Shape roadmap and priorities by evaluating business impact, effort, and trade-offs across competing initiatives.
Stakeholder & Partner Management
  • Act as the primary relationship manager and trusted advisor to senior business partners.
  • Lead structured discussions to align on priorities, timelines, and deliverables.
  • Influence decision-making using data-driven insights and clear business rationale.
  • Manage partner expectations in a dynamic, high-demand environment.
Scorecard & Compensation Delivery
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of:
    • Performance management scorecards (coaching and insights)
    • Compensation scorecards (financial and payout accuracy)
  • Ensure delivery meets defined service levels for timeliness, accuracy, and quality.
  • Lead major initiatives, including annual refreshes, compensation updates, and enhancement cycles.
Portfolio & Delivery Management
  • Own the team's project pipeline and prioritization framework.
  • Allocate resources to maximize business value and ensure alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term transformation initiatives.
  • Drive disciplined execution through structured tracking, status reporting, and governance routines.
Decision-Making & Trade-Off Leadership
  • Make sound business decisions in ambiguous and complex environments.
  • Evaluate problems using a data-driven and pragmatic approach, including impact sizing.
  • Identify and communicate trade-offs to optimize outcomes across competing demands.
Continuous Improvement & Simplification
  • Identify opportunities to reduce complexity, automate processes, and improve efficiency.
  • Drive initiatives that enhance transparency, usability, and scalability of scorecards and reporting.
  • Champion a continuous improvement mindset focused on maximizing value and reducing effort.
People Leadership & Team Development
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of managers and analysts.
  • Foster a high-performing, accountable, and engaged team culture aligned to BMO values.
  • Set clear expectations, provide ongoing feedback, and manage performance outcomes.
  • Build leadership capability and strengthen the succession pipeline.
Governance, Risk & Controls
  • Ensure robust controls over scorecard accuracy, data integrity, and compensation outcomes.
  • Oversee quality assurance, validation processes, and issue resolution.
  • Identify and mitigate risks in alignment with audit and regulatory expectations.
Qualifications

Experience
  • 8+ years of relevant experience in analytics, performance management, financial services, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional initiatives.
  • Experience managing performance frameworks, scorecards, or compensation programs is preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage senior stakeholder relationships and influence outcomes.
Skills & Competencies

Strategic & Analytical
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking
  • Data-driven decision-making and problem solving
  • Ability to assess business impact and prioritize accordingly
Leadership & Execution
  • Planning, prioritization, and delivery across multiple initiatives
  • Ability to drive results through delegation and accountability
  • Experience leading and developing people leaders
Relationship Management & Communication
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills
  • Clear, structured, and compelling communication
  • Ability to align diverse stakeholders with competing priorities
Adaptability & Judgment
  • Ability to operate effectively in ambiguity and fast-paced environments
  • Strong judgment and ability to make decisions with incomplete information
Education
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Information
  • This role operates in a high-visibility environment with regular exposure to senior leadership.
  • The position plays a critical role in enabling frontline performance through accurate, transparent, and strategically aligned scorecards and compensation frameworks.
