Job description
:

The Senior Strategic Planner is responsible for leading high-impact strategic initiatives for clients and brands and serves as a key strategic partner for day-to-day requests on strategic needs. This role is a key internal support for both Account Services and Creative to raise the overall quality of our deliverables, communications, and creative output. The Senior Strategic Planner leverages industry knowledge to provide critical insights and will deliver compelling research, ideas and strategic recommendations for positioning a client’s business/products to customers/consumers.

What You’ll Do

  • Analyze & Distill Insights: Identify, gather, and analyze information from various sources to understand customer, patient, and consumer behaviour, as well as emerging market trends.
  • Architect Go-to-Market Plans: Strategize and architect holistic, digital-first go-to-market plans for a diverse portfolio of brands across the Canadian market, guiding agency teams during the definition, brief, design, and development phases.
  • Lead Strategic Workshops: Lead high-profile strategic workshops internally, with clients, and with their cross-functional teams to collaborate on brand strategies, patient journeys, and tactical planning.
  • Drive Omnichannel Engagement: Drive customer engagement strategies as an expression of broader brand strategies, developing integrated campaigns across email, web, search, media, and social channels (as well as leveraging creator collaborations and emergent technologies).
  • Map Journeys & Blueprints: Partner with internal creative, account, and production teams to distill insights and build comprehensive strategies that include customer journeys, messaging maps, tactics, and campaign blueprints.
  • Audit & Optimize: Review and audit established plans to identify gaps, trends, and opportunities within an omnichannel marketing ecosystem, using data to optimize campaign impact.
  • Provide Strategic Consulting: Provide internal and client-facing consulting when crafting channel-specific recommendations, actively keeping teams ahead of the curve regarding best practices and emerging digital trends.
  • Support Growth Initiatives: Contribute to new business pitches and organic growth opportunities by developing compelling integrated strategies that showcase the agency's modern strategic capabilities.

What You’ll Need

  • Agency Experience: 5 to 7 years of strategic planning experience within an advertising or marketing agency (prior experience or deep interest in pharma, healthcare, and/or wellness is highly valued).
  • Analytical & Data-Driven Mindset: A customer-first mindset with sound knowledge of data, statistical analytical methods, and measurement principles.
  • Strategic & Marketing Acumen: Deep marketing knowledge, business acumen, and an inherent curiosity to uncover the truth behind consumer and patient behaviors.
  • Exceptional Communication: Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills, with a natural presence that builds trust with clients and internal teams.
  • Collaboration & Organization: Proactive, with excellent collaborative skills and the ability to identify strategic opportunities across brands, campaigns, and markets, balanced with a high degree of personal accountability.
  • Digital & Analytics Toolsets: Hands-on experience with professional analytics platforms (e.g., Google Analytics/Adobe Analytics, custom dashboards, e-commerce) and social media analytic tools.
  • Research & Social Listening: Experience collecting socio/psycho/demographic and behavioral information through primary research and secondary data collection, including experience with social listening platforms (such as Brandwatch).
  • Integrated Digital Marketing: Strong understanding of search engine marketing (SEM/PPC), social media marketing (paid and earned), and digital media dynamics.
