Job description
Role: Solution Architect - Insurance Transformation
Location: Toronto Canada (Hybrid) Exp Range:10 Years-----Role Summary
We are seeking a Solution Architect with strong experience in insurance transformation programs particularly across underwriting quoting/rating and billing business functions. The role requires the ability to shape end-to-end solution architecture across legacy and modern platforms work effectively with COTS products and identify opportunities to leverage GenAI / LLM capabilities responsibly to improve business and IT outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead solution architecture for transformation initiatives spanning underwriting quoting/rating billing and adjacent insurance processes.
Translate business strategy and functional requirements into scalable secure supportable and integration-ready solution designs.
Evaluate select and integrate COTS / SaaS platforms with enterprise applications data platforms workflow tools and legacy systems.
Define target-state architecture integration patterns API strategies data flows security controls and non-functional requirements.
Collaborate with business stakeholders product owners engineering teams vendors and enterprise architects to align solution decisions.
Assess current-state application landscape and create modernization roadmaps transition states and implementation blueprints.
Drive architecture governance design reviews technology risk assessment and adherence to enterprise standards.
Identify practical use cases for GenAI / LLMs such as agent assist document summarization knowledge retrieval underwriting support and service productivity.
Support estimation implementation planning vendor coordination and issue resolution throughout solution delivery.
Produce architecture artifacts including solution diagrams integration maps decision logs interface specifications and deployment viewpoints.
Required Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Engineering Information Systems or a related discipline.
Hands-on experience architecting insurance solutions in areas such as underwriting quoting/rating billing policy administration or claims adjacencies.
Strong understanding of COTS product implementation configuration-driven solutions and vendor package integration.
Experience with application integration patterns APIs middleware event-driven architectures data mapping and enterprise security considerations.
Solid understanding of cloud distributed systems microservices data architecture and system interoperability.
Ability to communicate architecture decisions clearly to business delivery and executive stakeholders.
Experience in documenting solution options trade-offs assumptions risks and recommendations.
Exposure to GenAI / LLM concepts enterprise use cases governance risk and implementation considerations.
Preferred Skills
Exposure to policy administration platforms rating engines billing platforms workflow / BPM tools CRM and document management solutions.
Knowledge of insurance data models product configuration pricing rules engines and regulatory / audit considerations.
Familiarity with Azure / AWS / GCP API gateways identity and access management and observability practices.
Working knowledge of data privacy responsible AI model security prompt patterns retrieval augmented generation and AI operating models.
Certification(s) in architecture cloud TOGAF or insurance platforms are advantageous.
