Days Rotating Weekends Rotating Holidays & On-Call

Shift

8 hrs

Position Summary:

Full-time position in maintenance department to work days weekends and statutory holidays included. Performs all activities in maintaining and installing power plant and heating equipment throughout the hospital. Maintaining installing replacing or constructing fittings fixtures structures and equipment throughout the hospital. Assists with plumbing HVAC millwrighting electrical carpentry repairs general mechanic work as required and other duties as assigned.

Other duties include but not limited to;

• Boiler elevator mechanical and electrical room walkthroughs.
• Check pump seal filters gas detectors filters medical gas manifolds
• Observe cooling tower chemicals and readings softener and salt levels fire suppression equipment and condensate transfer stations.
• Inspect compressors vac stations reserve tanks fuel storage rooftop units and the Cogen.

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting standing walking bending lifting pushing and pulling. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients staff and visitors.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Successful completion of secondary school required.
• Must hold a certification of qualification or a license in one of the following trades: Stationary Engineer (Minimum 4th class) Utilities Systems Operator Industrial Mechanic or Millwright
• Previous experience in one of the fore mentioned areas and in a maintenance environment is preferred.
• Must be able to work independently within the team structure
• Previous experience in an institutional healthcare setting would be considered an asset
• Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
