Job Description

What if you could redefine what’s possible?

With us, you can. You want Purpose. Growth. Opportunity. People who get it. We are the home of ambitious, passionate, and innovative world shapers. With an unmatched breadth and depth of engineering, advisory and science‑based expertise, our global minds unite to power local solutions. We are pathfinders and impact makers. We are Visioneers. We are WSP.

The Opportunity

Your Impact Starts Here – Step into a leadership role where your expertise shapes Canada’s most complex energy and heavy industrial projects. As Project Director, you’ll lead Project Managers, Area Managers, Engineering Managers, and project engineers—guiding stakeholders with confidence and clarity. You'll ideally bring proven project management experience in mining and heavy industry, strong governance skills, and a talent for fostering new business opportunities. You will play a pivotal role in shaping our ERI portfolio and advancing client success.

Location: Ideally within the Greater Toronto Area or Sudbury in Ontario.

At WSP Canada, our ERI (Energy, Resources & Industry) sector delivers projects nationwide—from small installations to multi-phase megaprojects in oil & gas, mining, heavy industry, and renewable energy (solar, wind, hydro, and more). We provide design, engineering, and environmental services that drive climate adaptation, protect water and biodiversity, and help clients transition to low‑carbon solutions.

Your Impact

  • Lead planning and execution of multi‑phase, complex mining and heavy industrial projects across Canada.
  • Develop and implement Project Management Plans, including risk, safety, quality, and communication strategies.
  • Oversee project budgets, schedules, and governance to ensure delivery on time and within scope.
  • Mentor and guide engineering managers and project teams to achieve technical excellence and client satisfaction.
  • Build strong client relationships and identify opportunities for growth and innovation.

The Skills That Set You Apart

  • 20+ years of progressive project management experience in mining and heavy industrial sectors.
  • Proven success managing EPCM projects and delivering on time and on budget.
  • Engineering degree (P.Eng. designation preferred) or technical diploma; PMP certification an asset.
  • Expertise in project governance, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and project management tools; bilingual (English/French) is an asset.
  • A collaborative leader who thrives in complex, multidisciplinary environments.

Why Choose WSP?

We exist to shape communities to advance humanity. The brightest engineers, advisors and scientists from across the globe call WSP home.

  • Proudly Canadian – we are a Top 100 Employer in Canada for 2026.
  • A global community of brilliant minds – your next idea, mentor, or opportunity is always within reach.
