Role: Senior Data Engineer

Rate: $60-70/hr T4; $70-80/hr INC

Length: 6 months (strong potential for extension)

Location: Downtown Toronto (1-2 days onsite)

Your New Role

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing and building scalable data solutions that power advertising analytics and reporting across the Retail Media Platform.

You will:

• Build and optimize scalable data pipelines to support campaign reporting and analytics
• Analyze data to uncover patterns, identify issues, and ensure high-quality reporting outputs
• Develop robust data models and semantic layers to support downstream analytics
• Automate reporting pipelines and contribute to real-time streaming dashboards
• Design and implement data validation and testing strategies to ensure data integrity
• Optimize queries and performance across different layers of the data pipeline
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders including Product, Engineering, Marketing, and Analytics teams
• Support a hypotheses-driven, data-centric product development environment

What You’ll Need to Succeed

To be successful, you will bring:

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer
• Strong experience building data pipelines using Python, Java, or Scala
• Hands-on experience with GCP tools (e.g., BigQuery, Dataproc)
• Experience with modern data stack tools such as DBT and Airflow
• Experience working with non-relational databases (e.g., Bigtable, Druid)
• Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and perform deep analysis
• Solid understanding of data warehousing concepts
• Experience working in cloud environments (GCP, AWS, or Azure)
• Familiarity with Git and engineering best practices
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
• Experience working in Agile environments

Nice-to-have:

• Experience in advertising, ad tech, or retail media platforms
