Position Description:
This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto and/or Client office at a minimum 2 day per week - subject to change at any time.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative QA Automation Engineer to help ensure the quality and reliability of our web applications and APIs. In this role, you will design and maintain automated testing solutions, contribute to scalable test frameworks, and work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software.
Your future duties and responsibilities:
UI Automation
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts for web applications using tools such as Selenium, Playwright, or Cypress
• Ensure compatibility across browsers and validate responsive designs
• Continuously improve automation coverage and execution efficiency
API Testing
• Develop and execute automated functional, integration, and contract tests for RESTful APIs
• Use tools such as Postman, RestAssured, or Parasoft to validate API behavior
• Ensure API reliability, performance, and data integrity
Framework Architecture
• Contribute to the design and evolution of scalable, maintainable automation frameworks
• Integrate testing solutions into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous delivery
• Promote best practices for test automation and code quality
Defect Management
• Identify, document, and track software defects
• Collaborate with developers and product managers to prioritize issues and validate fixes
• Ensure timely resolution and regression coverage
Shift-Left Quality Strategy
• Participate in sprint planning and design discussions to identify risks early
• Provide input on testability, edge cases, and quality considerations during development
• Advocate for proactive quality practices
Performance & Security Testing
• Support basic load and performance testing for UI and APIs
• Assist with security vulnerability scanning and validation
• Help ensure applications meet reliability and security standards
Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
Technical Skills
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, or Python
• Experience with UI test automation tools such as Playwright or Selenium WebDriver
• Strong understanding of API testing concepts, including HTTP methods, status codes, and JSON/XML structures
• Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman, SoapUI, or RestAssured
CI/CD & Development Practices
• Experience working with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, GitLab CI, or GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with integrating automated tests into pipelines
Database & Data Validation
• Ability to write and execute SQL queries to verify data accuracy and integrity
Version Control
• Proficiency with Git, including branching, merging, and pull request workflows
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with performance or security testing tools
• Familiarity with test-driven development (TDD) or behavior-driven development (BDD) practices
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
