Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Merchandising, Supply Chain, Marketing, or a related field. 9+ years of progressive merchandising experience, including category ownership and supplier management.
Job Summary
Establishes merchandising objectives for assigned categories and leads the financial planning process, from setting targets to guiding pricing optimization. Drives the assortment planning cycle by reviewing category performance, informing line reviews, and negotiating with suppliers. Develops operational plans that support SOAR execution. Oversees supplier management strategies, including sourcing, selection, and rationalization, to ensure alignment with business needs.
Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities
- Leads product selection and assortment planning to align category strategies with customer needs, profitability goals, and overall business objectives.
- Develops pricing strategies that balance competitiveness and margin optimization across the MRO market.
- Builds and maintains strong supplier relationships to secure favorable costs, reliable delivery, and consistent product availability.
- Oversees inventory planning to ensure optimal stock levels that meet demand while minimizing excess and avoiding stockouts.
- Designs and implements merchandising strategies for in-store, online, and catalog channels to elevate the customer experience and drive sales.
- Analyzes sales performance, customer behavior, and market trends to inform product decisions and merchandising direction.
- Provides strategic leadership and direction to merchants and associate merchants within the function.
- Collaborates with cross-functional partners, including Sales Operations, Sales, Operations, and Marketing, to ensure merchandising strategies support enterprise goals.
Education and Experience
Typically requires BS/BA in a related discipline. Generally 9+ years of experience in a related field, including several years in a management/supervisory capacity.
Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area; typical workday spent seated with occasional light lifting, and 5%–20% overnight travel.
