Director, Business Development
The Mastercard Canada Fintech & Ecosystem Enablement team sits at the forefront of innovation, partnering with dynamic and high-growth companies shaping the future of financial services in Canada. These partners span the evolving payments value chain—from issuers and acquirers to program managers, processors, emerging platforms, and other ecosystem stakeholders.
Role
- Own and grow a portfolio of fintech partners, driving both new business development and ongoing account expansion across issuing, value-added services, and emerging technologies.
- Build and deepen senior-level relationships, positioning Mastercard as a trusted strategic partner and expanding engagement across the ecosystem.
- Develop and execute account strategies and pipelines, translating partner needs into actionable growth plans and revenue opportunities.
- Lead end-to-end deal execution, including business case development, commercial structuring, negotiations, and contract management.
- Apply consultative selling principles to educate partners on the ecosystem and originate new opportunities, proactively engaging emerging fintech partners and use cases.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with local and global teams to deliver integrated client solutions.
- Develop the fintech ecosystem, building relationships across platforms, processors, incubators, and accelerators.

- Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, dynamic environments, balancing multiple priorities while delivering results.
- Strong business development and account management experience, with a demonstrated consultative sales approach and a track record of originating and growing complex partnerships.
- Ability to quickly learn and apply new concepts, particularly across payments, fintech, and technology.
- Exceptional relationship-building skills, with experience engaging and influencing stakeholders at all levels, including senior executives.
- Strong strategic thinking and analytical capabilities, with the ability to translate insights into actionable opportunities.
- Clear and effective communicator, able to simplify complex concepts, articulate value propositions, and translate Mastercard processes and solutions for different partners and stakeholders.
- Collaborative and able to influence without direct authority in a matrixed organization.
- Highly intellectually curious, with a strong interest in fintech trends and continuous learning.
- Experience in fintech, payments, or technology is an asset.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Post-secondary education required; MBA or equivalent experience is an asset.

In line with Mastercard’s total compensation philosophy and assuming that the job will be performed in Canada, the successful candidate will be offered a competitive pay based on location, experience and other qualifications for the role and may be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program.
Pay Ranges – Toronto, Canada: $138,000 – $221,000 CAD
