QE Engineer / Lead (Reinsurance) — Job Description

This person needs extensive Automation expertise, with the ability to independently build Automation frameworks from scratch within an environment with little Automation. This person will be the expert Automation consultant within the group.

Role Summary

We are hiring two Quality Engineering (QE) professionals to accelerate quality automation and release confidence for our Reinsurance technology portfolio. This role will build and operationalize an end-to-end QE capability across API, UI, and data validation, enabling faster, safer delivery and improved control evidence. The QE will develop an automation framework leveraging Windsurf and Devin to boost engineering productivity and will integrate automated testing into the CI/CD pipeline to enable regression, smoke validation, and release quality gates. The role will also establish disciplined test management and automation traceability through Jira and Zephyr.

Key Outcomes (What success looks like)

- Establish a scalable QE automation framework for Reinsurance systems with repeatable execution through CI/CD.

- Deliver API-first automated regression coverage for critical reinsurance workflows (, billing, settlements, AR/AP, recoveries, exceptions).

- Implement lean UI automation for critical user journeys supporting reinsurance operations.

- Implement Jira/Zephyr-based test management with traceability from requirements test cases automation execution evidence.

- Automate test data provisioning strategies (scenario packs, repeatable datasets) and implement automated validation and reconciliation checks.

- Provide reliable quality gates, reporting dashboards, and audit-ready evidence to support release governance and IFC controls.

- Reduce manual regression effort and enable regression execution multiple times per release lifecycle.

Primary Responsibilities

Framework & Automation Engineering

- Design and build a modular QE automation framework supporting:

- API automation (REST) for service regression (contract tests, negative tests, and end-to-end API flows).

- UI automation for critical workflows (risk-based coverage; stability-focused).

- Data validation automation (reconciliations, invariants, data quality checks) aligned to finance controls.

- Implement test orchestration, parallel execution, and reliable reporting (pass/fail, trends, flaky test management).

Jira / Zephyr Test Management & Automation Traceability

- Configure and maintain Jira/Zephyr test assets: test plans, cycles, executions, and reporting.

- Establish standards for linking user stories/requirements to test cases and automated scripts.

- Integrate automated test execution results into Zephyr (or equivalent) to provide a single source of truth for coverage and execution status.

- Produce executive-ready quality metrics: regression coverage, execution pass rates, defect leakage, and cycle time.

AI-Assisted Engineering Enablement (Windsurf, Devin)

- Leverage Windsurf and Devin to accelerate development of test assets (test generation, refactoring, documentation, code review support), while maintaining quality and security standards.

- Establish standards for AI-assisted development (prompt patterns, review checklists, secure usage, reproducibility).

- Create reusable QE accelerators (templates, generators, libraries) to improve speed and consistency.

CI/CD Integration & Release Quality Gates

- Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines; implement smoke gates for deployments and regression gates for promotions.

- Automate evidence capture aligned to audit and IFC expectations (test results, approvals, deployment logs).

- Partner with DevOps/Platform teams to improve pipeline reliability, environment readiness, and automation run cadence.

Test Strategy, Coverage & Risk Management

- Partner with Product Owners, SMEs, Dev, and Production Support to define risk-based regression scope and quality thresholds.

- Build and maintain a test inventory mapped to requirements, risks, and key KPIs.

- Drive defect triage, root cause analysis, and prevention (shift-left quality).

Collaboration & Leadership

- Work closely with Reinsurance Operations, Reporting, and Finance stakeholders to ensure testing aligns with business outcomes and controls.

- Mentor engineers and analysts on automation best practices and test design.

- Contribute to governance: documentation, standards, playbooks, and KPI reporting.

Required Qualifications

- 7+ years in Quality Engineering / Test Automation / SDET roles, including building frameworks and leading automation delivery.

- Strong programming skills in one or more: Java, C#, Python, or TypeScript/JavaScript.

- Proven experience automating REST APIs (, RestAssured, Postman/Newman, Karate, Playwright API, pytest).

- Proven experience automating web UI journeys (, Playwright, Cypress, Selenium).

- Hands-on experience with Jira and Zephyr for test case management, planning, execution tracking, and reporting.

- Experience integrating automation into CI/CD pipelines (, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).

- Strong understanding of test strategy, risk-based testing, and quality gates.

- Familiarity with data validation approaches (SQL, reconciliation checks, test data strategies).

- Excellent communication skills; able to work with both technical and finance/business stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience in insurance/reinsurance operations, finance systems, IFRS-related data flows, billing/settlement processes, or regulated environments.

- Experience operating under audit/compliance controls (SOX/IFC) and producing audit-ready evidence.

- Experience with test reporting and observability tooling (Allure, ReportPortal, dashboards).

- Experience designing reusable test data frameworks and synthetic dataset generation.

- Exposure to AI-assisted engineering tools (Windsurf, Devin or similar) with an ability to implement safe usage patterns.

- Jira/Zephyr maturity: % stories with linked tests; % automated tests mapped to Zephyr; pass-rate trends; execution cycle time.

- Compliance readiness (automated evidence completeness and timeliness).
