Supervised Instructor TherapistOverviewDepartment: ABAReporting to: Senior Supervised Therapist/Clinical SupervisorLocation: TorontoJob Type & Duration: Full Time Contract 18 MonthsHours: 37.5 hours/weekSalary: $45000 T7 L1Publish Date: January 2026About SAAAC Autism CentreThe SAAAC Autism Centre is a Toronto based charity whose mission is to make autism services equitable for all Canadians. The Centre provides culturally responsive autism services targeting culturally and linguistically diverse families. Using a multi-disciplinary approach our Centre offers a dynamic range of services that support the development of individuals on the autism spectrum at all life stages along with their Role on Our TeamThe Supervised Instructor therapist will work directly with children with autism and their families applying applied behaviour analysis (ABA) teaching procedures and interventions. Clinical supervision and guidance will be provided by a BCBA Clinical Supervisor. Opportunities for Registered Behaviour Technician (RBT) or BCBA (Board Certified Behaviour Analysis) supervision and support will be ResponsibilitiesResponsible for implementing ABA strategies in a one-to-one setting in accordance to the clients behavior plan. Daily activities include:Work with multiple clients (age range): 2-18 years old under the supervision of a Registered Behavior Analyst (RBA) and Supervised Senior TherapistWork with clients in a 1:1 formatAssist the RBA with in-person assessmentsComplete various assessments needed for client programming (e.g. preference assessments baseline assessments)Use ABA Strategies and adhere to program write-up to teach various goals as per the clients behavior planHelp to reduce clients challenging behaviors (e.g. aggression self-injurious behaviors property destruction sensory behaviors) by collecting data using antecedent and consequent based strategies utilizing appropriate SMG strategies and adhering to the clients behavior support planMeet with RBA and Supervised Senior therapist regularly re: client programming and provide updates about sessions clients progress effectiveness of individual programs challenging behaviours and revisionsPrepare and organize the teaching environments and materials needed for teachingResponsible for maintaining the clients binderUtilize sound clinical judgmentResponsible for collecting data during each session. Responsible for tracking and analysis including graphing and summarizing information at the end of each sessionsHelp prepare any reports (e.g. discharge reports) or session notesFlag exceptional circumstances as well as the need for changes to the program plan with Supervised Senior therapist and RBAAddress personal care requirements of the client during each session (e.g. helping with toileting diaper changes assisting with changing of clothes feeding etc.)Attend meetings with family and other service providers as parent training opportunities for parents as stated in clients service contract (i.e. parent observing the session modelling and feedback to parents)Maintain regular communications with parents and family members as required providing parent debrief (in-person phone call or through written communication)Maintain a clean and safe environment for clients (e.g. sanitizing toys assisting with clean up etc.)Ensuring safety of clients by following SMG protocols SAAAC health and safety protocols and adherence to SAAACs policies and proceduresOther duties include but are not limited to:Attending team meetingsContributing information and ideas to the team process and for client programmingCommunicating and interacting to team members and families in a professional and respectful mannerBeing open to receiving and implementing feedback provided by supervisorsProviding mentoring and collegial support as required (i.e. to placement students volunteers or other team members)Utilizing educational opportunities (e.g. attending professional development meetings)Maintaining knowledge of and adhering to legislative requirements and professional standardsCompleting Centre administrative activities and requirements including attendance serious occurrences and incident to employee responsibilities for Health & Safety as defined by the Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) and applicable regulationsAbility to spend most of the day at the childs level i.e. sitting on the floor or on child height to bend stoop and lift child to adult height (up to 20 kg) and to move childrens furniture orequipment to prepare room for programming needsPartaking in Centre-based initiatives or special projectsSupervised Instructor Therapist maybe assigned to other programs or departments for a short or long term basis dependent on program structure changesMinimum QualificationsUniversity degree or College diploma in behavioural sciences social services psychology or early childhood educationMinimum of 1 year work experience delivering ABA ServicesHave a good understanding of autism and applied behaviour analysisPrevious experience working with children with developmental disabilities and/or AutismAvailable to work evenings weekend center basedAn interest in professional development and further developing clinical skillsStrong interpersonal and time-management skillsStrong verbal and written communication skillsAccess to a reliable means of transportation (e.g. TTC personal vehicle)Demonstrated reliability and dependabilityStrong interpersonal skills to gain trust and respect of children and their ability to interact with others and deal with situations in ways that respect diverse backgrounds experience and to manage children with challenging behaviors and communicate effectively with parents in a positive wayAbility to work effectively in a team environment as well as independentlyAbility to work with multi-disciplinary with MS Office (Word Excel PowerPoint and Outlook).Satisfactory current Vulnerable Sector Check and Criminal Records of full vaccination against COVID-19Valid Liability InsuranceThe SAAAC Autism Centre welcomes and encourages applications from individuals with disabilities.
