Responsibilities

• Lead the mechanical engineering discipline on nuclear projects, ensuring technical excellence, regulatory compliance, and alignment with client expectations.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for mechanical engineering matters with the client and other stakeholders.
• Oversee the preparation and review of engineering deliverables including P&IDs, BOM’s, equipment specifications, piping layouts, stress analyses, and HVAC designs.
• Ensure all designs meet Canadian nuclear regulatory standards (e.g., CSA N285, N286, N299 series, CNSC requirements).
• Lead and mentor a team of mechanical engineers and designers, fostering a culture of technical rigor, compliance, and continuous improvement.

• Review and approve vendor documentation, ensuring alignment with project specifications and nuclear safety requirements.
• Conduct and oversee mechanical system analyses including seismic thermal-hydraulic calculations, pressure drop analysis, and equipment sizing.
• Provide engineering support during construction (RFI responses, field changes, NCR resolution).
• Support commissioning planning, procedures, and system turnover.
• Support preparation of:
o Licensing submissions (e.g., License to Prepare Site, Construct, Operate)
o Design justification reports and compliance matrices
• Drive innovation and cost-effective solutions while maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality.
