Job description

What you’ll do

Our Finance team plays a critical role in helping Canadian Tire Corporation stay competitive in a dynamic retail environment by delivering accurate, timely, and high‑quality financial planning, reporting, and insights. As a Senior Financial Analyst in the Corporate Planning Group, you will be at the heart of our financial decision-making process, providing critical insights that shape the direction of Canadian Tire Corporation. You will play a key role in reporting and analyzing the Company’s performance, delivering actionable insights to senior management, the CFO, and the Board. This is a highly visible, customer-facing role that requires strong storytelling skills to communicate complex financial data in a clear, compelling way that influences strategic decision-making.

We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically strong professional to support enterprise financial consolidation and executive performance reporting. This role works closely with Corporate FP&A peers and focuses on collecting and consolidating inputs from multiple FP&A teams, maintaining complex Excel-based models, and integrating outputs in Hyperion Financial Management (HFM) and PPT. Success in this role requires strong analytical judgment, the ability to translate complex financial information into meaningful narratives, and the capacity to partner effectively across the organization.

  • Drive Strategic Insights through the Performance Management Cycle: Lead the preparation and presentation of monthly and quarterly performance reports to Senior Management and the Board, delivering key variance analyses and insights that help drive business strategy and decisions.

  • Storytelling with Impact: You’ll use your financial expertise to "connect the dots" and craft narratives that make financial data come alive. Your analysis will provide meaningful, actionable insights that inform key decisions at the highest levels of the company, including the CFO and Board of Directors.

  • Lead Enterprise Forecasting: Consolidate financial data across FP&A teams, ensuring that forecasts are aligned with performance outcomes and strategic objectives. Perform rigorous data validation and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness.

  • HFM Transformation, Projects & Ad Hoc Analysis: Support a long-term, multi-phase project to improve the availability and effectiveness of monthly consolidated forecast data in the financial system. Ad hoc analytical requests may also come up to help leadership evaluate complex scenarios, assess trade‑offs, and make informed decisions.

  • Cross‑Functional Finance Partner: Work closely with FP&A, Treasury, HR, Corporate Accounting, Investor Relations, and other partners to gather insights and provide in-depth analysis on key financial variances, as well as ensure consistent assumptions, alignment, and accuracy across the business.

  • Drive Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance models, reporting, and processes by leveraging Excel, Power BI, AI, and automation tools to improve efficiency, control, and insight generation.

What you bring

  • University degree in Accounting or Finance

  • Professional accounting designation (CPA, CA, CMA, CGA, CFA), either obtained or currently pursuing one

  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in finance roles, including a solid understanding of the financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow statements)

  • Strong accounting and financial modelling skills; experience with financial consolidation under IFRS for enterprises with multiple business units considered an asset

  • Advanced Excel skills, including complex formulas and automations; working knowledge of Hyperion Financial Management, PeopleSoft, AI tools, and Power BI are considered an asset

  • Ability to communicate complex financial data in a clear, compelling way that influences strategic decision-making; experience with storytelling and “connecting the dots” to stakeholders including executives is an asset

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy and a keen eye for formatting. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to transform complex data into visually appealing and easily understandable reports that effectively communicate key insights to stakeholders at all levels.

  • Creative and courageous, with the ability to see the “big picture” and problem solve in an environment of change and ambiguity

  • Action oriented and organized, with exceptional attention to detail

  • Outcome focused, critical thinkers with the ability to analyze and visualize, to ensure continuous process improvement

  • Independent self-starter who is able to accurately prioritize key tasks to achieve desired outcome within the required deadline and proactive raise any potential barriers to completion

  • Collaborative team player who builds relationships easily across various stakeholder groups to move initiatives forward

We’re always looking for great talent! In addition to competitive pay, we offer:

  • Comprehensive benefits and retirement programs

  • Performance incentives, Continuing Education Programs

  • Other perks to support your well-being

  • Career growth opportunities and product discounts

Broadband Salary Range: $64,000 – $106,000 CAD.

Our typical is between $80,000 and $95,000 CAD. Salary decisions are also dependent on other factors such as your experience, industry benchmarks, internal equity and other role-specific requirements. For critical roles, the compensation offering will be reviewed to ensure alignment with market rate and conditions and the unique value you bring to the role.
