Job Description

Key Responsibilities May Include:

  • Work with the management team to monitor work activities, ensuring all plant personnel operate within prescribed safety guidelines and follow best practices for safety and environmental compliance.
  • Empower colleagues to participate in safety performance by promoting the Human and Organizational Performance (Safety Differently) ethos to ensure learning is maximized in preference to discipline.
  • Carry out investigations from reported hazard and near miss reports and identify opportunities for solutions to improve safety culture.
  • Ensure emergency protocols are in place and understood by all employees
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with HSE regulations and ensure adherence to GAP safety and environmental SOPs.
  • Facilitate and support training and development to ensure colleagues are able to meet HSE standards, ensuring plant personnel are up-to-date on basic safety requirements.
  • Maintain safety documentation and records for plant personnel, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Partner with Regional HSE Specialist and site leadership to identify and mitigate plant risks, implementing corrective actions where necessary.
  • Conduct safety orientations and walkthroughs for new hires, promoting a strong culture of safety from day one.

The HSE coordinator monitors production floor activity enforcing Safety First compliance for all production employees. Partners with plant leadership to execute health, safety and environmental initiatives, performs safety audits and Icare reporting, ensures adherence to GAP safety and environmental SOPs to comply with all corporate policies, goals and objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Monitors production floor activity and ensure plant personnel operate within CHEP safety guidelines.
  • Conduct Accident investigations and gather all the info for ICare and WSNB reporting
  • Monitors modified work plans, liaising with workers, supervisors, and healthcare providers to ensure a safe, sustainable return
  • Compliance: Ensures organizational adherence to WSNB policies and OH&S regulations.
  • Champions the 5S journey
  • Executes all GAP (CHEP safety program) and BPAT strategies and program initiatives.
  • Track performance on safety and report to supervisors and management.
  • Supports and executes the training and development of team members to meet corporate health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain safety documents for all shift personnel.
  • Participate in the safety committee and review all pending safety or environmental concerns, risks and develop mitigation plans accordingly.
  • Support and at times lead group projects targeting safety systems and manufacturing improvements.
  • Work with HSE Supervisor and site leadership to address plant risks.
  • Perform orientation safety training and walkthroughs for all new hires.
  • Contributes to driving continuous improvement at the plant and strengthen internal policies, procedures, and systems around safety.
  • Ensure that SOPs used are kept up to date
  • Maintaining the (general) training matrix up to date and ensuring the training is done in a timely manner

Qualifications

  • High School diploma -or- equivalent

Experience

  • Prior experience in a safety role in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong customer focus orientation
  • Demonstrated success in delivering strong employee relations
  • Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally
  • Experience monitoring HSE performance and programs

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to manage safety processes and motivate a team
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and strategic thinking ability
  • Comfort with Microsoft Suites, including, but not limited to: Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements

  • May require standing for long periods of time, intermittent stooping/bending, pushing/pulling, reaching above shoulder, and repetitively rotating hand/wrist/forearm with or without accommodation.

Working Conditions

  • The role involves working in a warehouse or manufacturing environment.
  • Exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures may occur.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) required.

The salary range for this position is $52,240 to $71,830 per year. Salary ranges provided take into account a wide variety of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications, geographic differentials and other business and organizational needs. Therefore, actual amounts offered may be higher or lower than the range provided. Dependent on the position offered, other forms of compensation may be part of a total offering beyond medical & retirement benefits and may include other monetary incentives or business benefits.

Le coordonnateur HSE surveille l'activité sur le plancher de production en apprenant la conformité pour tous les employés de production.   • Assurez-vous que les SOP utilisés sont maintenus à jour

Expérience

  • Expérience préalable dans un poste de sécurité dans un environnement manufacturier
  • Forte orientation client

  • Expérience en suivi des performances et programmes HSE
  • Capacité à gérer les processus de sécurité et à motiver une équipe
