What is the Opportunity?The Senior Manager, Innovation Communications works in RBC's enterprise Innovation team within Technology & Operations. This team is responsible for taking emerging technologies from discovery to scaled, secure, production-grade capabilities. This role works closely with all Innovation team roles, spanning delivery, engineering, and strategy functions. This position is dedicated to amplifying and communicating the Innovation team's vision, achievements, and emerging technology research to internal and external audiences across a variety of communication platforms and forums. The communications senior manager works closely with product delivery and engineering teams to translate complex innovation initiatives into compelling narratives. The communications senior manager owns the Innovation team's internal and external brand presence, organizes flagship innovation events and maintains open and productive communication across RBC’s Innovation Ecosystem, managing all external-facing content including emerging technology research, proof-of-concepts, and education initiatives.
What will you do?- Plan, coordinate, and execute innovation events including the Innovation Ecosystem forum for innovation teams across RBC
- Develop and manage all external-facing content about Innovation team projects, initiatives, emerging technology research, proof-of-concepts, and education programs
- Manage the RBC Innovation portal on RBCNet and the public external innovation site, ensuring accuracy, currency, and alignment with organizational messaging
- Develop and maintain comprehensive communication strategies, messaging frameworks, content calendars, and post-event summaries
- Assist in managing executive communications and stakeholder reporting on Innovation initiatives
- Champion consistent, high-quality communications across all Innovation channels (internal/external, written/oral)
- Collaborate with delivery and engineering teams to extract and communicate technical achievements in accessible, engaging formats
What do you need to succeed?Must-Haves- Undergraduate degree coupled with 5+ years of relevant experience in communications, content management, corporate communications, marketing, or related roles
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills with ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
- Proven ability to manage multiple communications projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality standards and meeting firm deadlines
- Experience with content management systems, website management, and digital publishing platforms
- Strong coordination and event management capabilities
- Strategic thinking and ability to develop communication narratives aligned with organizational objectives
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Confluence, and content management tools
Nice-to-Have- Familiarity with or past experience on a software delivery team
- Knowledge of agile software delivery methodologies and terminology
- Familiarity with computer science, engineering, or architecture disciplines
- Experience with emerging technology trends (AI, quantum computing, DLT, open-banking, etc.)
- Background in technical writing or science communication
