Position Summary

We are seeking a neuropsychologist for a temporary (up to 1.0 FTE; flexibility is possible) twelve-month contract to work within within multiple ambulatory/outpatient program areas at Holland Bloorview. This position will appeal to a clinician who enjoys working with clients with a diverse range of ages and rehabilitation needs in a supportive, collaborative environment.

Our ambulatory care Brain Injury Rehabilitation Team/Concussion team (BIRT/Concussion) provides multi-disciplinary rehabilitation services to children and adolescents with moderate-to-severe acquired and traumatic brain injuries (e.g., encephalopathy, brain tumour, and motor-vehicle accidents) as well as clients with persistent concussion symptoms.

The neuropsychologist’s main focus is to provide neuropsychological assessment services at appropriate transition points in the client’s journey. They are part of the concussion team assessments and follow-up.

Specific duties include:

  • The neuropsychologist offers a complete range of psychological services including assessment, consultation, education, training, and team support.
  • Completes neuropsychological assessments and provides comprehensive individual and/or family feedback.
  • Works collaboratively in providing supervision with psychometrists in completing assessments.
  • Communicates information to the inter-professional team, including the client’s home, school and community teams.
  • Utilizes well-developed neuropsychological formulation, feedback, and report writing skills.
  • Provides psychological interventions in both group and individual formats to clients and their caregivers.
  • Provides intervention approaches that are appropriate to the pediatric rehabilitation setting.
  • In partnership with clients, caregivers and the inter-professional team, works collaboratively to provide client and family-centred care which is goal-directed, evidence-based and outcome-oriented.
  • Provides appropriate education and training sessions to inter-professional team.
  • As a member of the Holland Bloorview Psychology Pre-doctoral Internship Program, supervises psychology practicum and internship students.
  • Active participation in the BIRT program and psychology-specific meetings, which may include involvement in committee work, as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • PhD in Psychology and Registration (or eligible for registration) with the College of Psychologists and Behaviour Analysts in Ontario (CPBAO) required, with declared competencies in Clinical Neuropsychology and Clinical Psychology with children and adolescents.
  • Previous experience working with clients and families following pediatric acquired brain injury is preferred.
  • Declared competence in Rehabilitation Psychology and/or Health Psychology would be an asset.
