Job Details Position Type: 12 month contract Work Hours: 35 Hours Per Week, Potential Evenings Reporting To: Manager, Jewish Life & Culture Classification: Social Worker II (40-2) (Bargaining Unit) Salary Range: $69,000-$91,000 Based on Experience Location: Central Branch, 4600 Bathurst St., Toronto, ON M2R 3V3 Posting Date: May 5, 2026 External Closing Date: Until filled Anticipated Start Date: June 1, 2026 Social Worker – Holocaust Survivor Services (Russian Speaking) 12 Month Contract About the Agency Jewish Family and Child Service (JF&CS) is a multi-service, client-centered, family service agency and a Children’s Aid Society. About the Role We are seeking a Social Worker – Holocaust Survivor Services who will be responsible for assessment, case management, implementation and coordination of services for Holocaust survivors. The incumbent will utilize their expertise in Claims Conference supported services for Survivors coupled with in-depth knowledge of community resources, social service programs and healthcare systems to deliver quality services and resource linkages for our clients. Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide assessment, case management, crisis intervention and supportive counselling to Holocaust survivors and their families using trauma-informed care and geriatric social worker practices
  • Assess changing client needs and develop tailored interventions.
  • Assist clients in accessing government programs, healthcare and community services
  • Develop case plans and assist in applying for restitution claims, working with relevant agencies like the Claims Conference.
  • Conduct intake assessments, eligibility interviews and program applications
  • Maintain knowledge of specialized services for Holocaust survivors, including HSEAP, Restitution programs, and Café Europa.
  • Collaborate with community partners to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in line with the Agency and Claims Conference guidelines.
  • Assist in mentoring and support cross-organizational efforts.
  • Advocate for client access to services and represent the Agency's mission and values.
  • Participate in research and evaluation programs related to Holocaust Survivor services.
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What You Will Bring:
  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working with seniors and their families.
  • OCSWSSW membership in good standing.
  • Experience with trauma survivors, especially Holocaust survivors, preferred.
  • Knowledge of Jewish history, culture, and community resources is a strong asset.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to a vehicle.
  • Fluency in Russian is required; Hebrew, Polish, or Yiddish is an asset.
