Student Accounting AssistantOur internships and Co-ops are designed to provide you with a business relevant project that will allow you to independently manage your own area of responsibility, while receiving support from an assigned Supervisor and Technical Mentor. We’ll help you discover your strengths and development areas in a challenging, fun, and supportive work environment.

We are seeking a student to join us for a 4 or 8 month co-op position starting in September 2026. This position will be based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

• Processprojectaccountsreceivableandaccountspayables,including:

• Preparebillingsandbackupdocumentation.

• EnterprojectrelatedpayablesandinvestigateanyPOdiscrepancies;and

• Assistandrespondtoinquiries.

• Effectively communicate with Project Managersregardingcontract documents, change orders and other contract modifications, approvals and anyadditionalservices related to billing and payables.

• Ensurethatmonth-enddeadlinesandreportingrequirementsaremet.

• IdentifyandresolveinconsistenciesandissueswithProjectManagers.

• Followuponpaymentcertifications.

• Initiatenewprojectset-ups;tobereviewedandreleasedbytheController.

• EnsurecompliancewithCSOXandIFRSrequirements.

• Fileandmanageprojectrecords.

• Provideconciseandaccurateadministration/preparationofpurchaseordersand/orother required documents involved with the procurement process.

• Ensureallpurchasesareaccuratelytrackedtoproperchargecode.

• Provideassistancewiththepreparationofquarterlyfinancialforecastsandannualbudget if required.

• Assist/support the accounting team as needed, along with ad-hoc requests andprojects asassigned.

Who We Need On Our Team

• Youarecurrentlyenrolledinapost-secondarydegree,diploma,orcertificatein Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.

• Youwillcompleteatleastonemoresemesterofeducationfollowingyourinternshipandpossessa GPA of 3.0 or higher

• Abilitytoleadandoperatewithinanenvironmentwherechangehappensfrequently

• Abilitytoforge,growandmaintainpositiverelationships

• ExemplifytheIdealTeamPlayer–Hungry,Humble,Smart

• Highlydevelopedinterpersonal,communication,andorganizationalskills

• SenseofurgencyandstrongcommitmenttoachievinggoalsAbilitytowork collaboratively with a positive attitude

• Residency,oravalidworkpermitwhichwouldallowyoutoworkforBirdConstructionor one of our wholly owned subsidiaries

• Ifyouareselectedforaroleinasafety-sensitiveposition, youwillberequiredto successfully complete a Medical and/or Alcohol & Drug tests
