Job descriptionFood Product Developer / Food Scientist (deserts and baked goods) | Milton | 80-100K - 100% on site in Milton, Ontario - Full time permanent - Monday-Friday - 3 weeks vacations - Interview process: 2-3 interviews (including a technical assessment/demo in a lab) - Report to: Product Development Manager - RSP Matching 4% The Food Product Developer will play a key role across all areas of Research & Development (R&D) and new product development, contributing to the creation and optimization of innovative food products that align with the company’s strategic goals and market demands. RESPONSABILITIES: • Develop new and re-design current frozen baked goods for Private Label Retail and Food Service. • Develop and maintain product specifications, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and formulations. • Prepare preliminary product costing, nutrition facts tables, and ingredient declarations. • Plan, coordinate, and lead plant trials for new product launches and process improvements. Product Developer • Organize the collection, labeling, and timely distribution of product samples for external stakeholders. • Source, evaluate, and document new ingredients, packaging solutions, and processing techniques. • Ensure developed products comply with government regulations, food safety, and certification requirements (i.e., Kosher, Halal) • Work closely with Production, Production Planning, FSQA, Purchasing, Sales & Marketing, and Customer Fulfillment. • Keep current on consumer trends, emerging technologies, and food industry innovations. • Conduct market research and report findings to inform product development strategies. • Execute key projects to align with overall strategy MUST HAVE • Post-Secondary Education in Food Science or related field (B.Sc preferred) • 5-15 years in Product Development or R&D in the food manufacturing industry • Baked good product development experience is a MUST • Must live within 35 min drive from Milton. • Strong English SKILLS • Exceptional organizational and project management skills • Exhibits problem solving skills and demonstrates creative solutions • Ability to adapt quickly to shifting priorities, respond effectively to urgent requests, and adjust plans as needed • Experience in Food, CPG, Foodservice, Food Manufacturing or Food Science R&D
