Responsibilities
- Support the ingestion, processing, and management of site characterization and environmental monitoring data within NWMO Site Characterization data systems.
- Provide user support, guidance, and training for data management tools and workflows, including preparation of user documentation and delivery of instructional support to facilitate effective system use.
- Collaborate with subject matter experts to support analysis and interpretation of site characterization and environmental monitoring data.
- Review, evaluate, and quality assure site characterization and environmental data from internal teams and external contractors to ensure compliance with NWMO’s Quality Assurance protocols.
- Interface with NWMO IT and external vendors to support system functionality and data integration activities.
- Assist in the configuration and maintenance of data management platforms (including setup of data structures, workflows, and user interfaces).
- Maintain metadata and documentation related to datasets and workflows.
- Support ongoing improvement of data workflows, tools, and system usability
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications and Experience
- A 4-year Bachelor's degree majoring in Science, Computer Information Systems (CIS),Management Information Systems (MIS) or equivalent.
- Professional experience working with site characterization or environmental monitoring datasets.
- A period of over 2 years and up to and including 4 years experience working with structured data systems and/or relational databases in a highly procedurally regulated environment.
- Experience supporting data processing, transformation, or integration workflows; including familiarity with data quality assurance and validation processes.
- Demonstrated ability to multitask in a high-pace environment.
- Must be proactive and able to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Knowledge of natural sciences and the management of analytical and field collected data.
- Excellent organization skills and strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team.
It is an asset to have experience with:
- Kisters Wiski water resource management tool or similar environmental data management systems
- Configuration or support of data management platforms
- Data import, transformation, or ETL-type processes
- SQL or working with relational databases
- Scripting or data processing tools (e.g. Python, PowerShell, or similar)
- Experience working with environmental monitoring data (e.g. water quality, hydrometric, or climate data)
