Job descriptionElectrical Operator - Facility / Building SupportWork Location: Toronto area - onsiteContract Term: 6 - 12 months, renewable for long termAbility to work flexible schedules, including 12-hour shifts, rotating shifts, night shifts, and varying work weeks (3–5 days)Eligible for Canada Government Reliability Security Clearance StatusResponsibilities• Provide escort support for third-party contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and service providers onsite• Perform assigned operational tasks such as routine rounds and initial equipment performance assessments under supervision• Monitor performance of data center equipment (electrical, mechanical, fire/life safety systems)• Assist with emergency monitoring and response to abnormal conditions using established Emergency Operating Procedures (EOPs)• Ensure compliance with all safety standards and physical security policies while performing work• Record daily operational readings of electrical equipment (e.g., temperature, voltage, current)• Follow Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for planned work in critical environments• Support energization of cabinets in colocation (Colo) environments• Assist with preventative maintenance activities including:• Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems (quarterly and annual)• System control panels• Batteries• Assist in troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and calibration of instrument sensors• Support electrical infrastructure across data center environments (single large or multiple smaller facilities)• Participate in and/or support critical operations including:• Remote Power Panel (RPP) shutdowns (single-source while maintaining critical load)• PDU shutdowns for maintenance (e.g., power meter replacement)• Power Interruption Testing (PIT)• Master controller shutdown or replacementRequirements• 5+ years of hands-on experience in technical fields (e.g., electrical, controls, automotive, data center)• Experience working with electrical systems in high-availability or critical infrastructure environments (e.g., data centers, oil & gas, hospitals, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, powerplant, industrial, and utility)• Operations experience - incident management, operational procedure development and execution, monitoring of critical system dashboards.• Strong communication skills - have strong verbal communication skills to take on the expected responsibilities during incident management.• Wide system and equipment knowledge - knowing generators, UPS, PDUs, switchboards, transformers...etc.• Ability to read and interpret multi-disciplinary engineering and equipment schematics and drawings; ability to describe all of the components and system interconnections of these sources of information• OSHA or OSHA-approved NFPA 70E certification• Fundamental understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC)• Experience with Building/Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (BMS/EPMS)• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word)• Ability to work flexible schedules, including 12-hour shifts, rotating shifts, and varying work weeks (3–5 days)• Strong attention to safety procedures and compliance standards• Previous data center experience is considered an asset
