IT - Solutions Developer III

We are seeking a highly accomplished IT - Solutions Developer III for an enterprise-level contract opportunity based in Toronto. In this role, you will take on a premier full-stack development, automation, and solution architecture capacity, specializing in designing, building, and maintaining business solutions that simplify operational processes and enhance organizational capabilities.

As a senior solutions developer, you will bridge the gap between front-end interfaces, back-end automation scripts, database structures, and internal business partners. Operating within a hybrid work model in Toronto, you will work across new build initiatives and application maintenance streams—developing automation tools, optimizing database queries, building macros, and integrating API methods. This position demands a technical developer with strong SDLC experience who can streamline operational workflows, present solution demos to business stakeholders, and deliver high-quality code in an Agile environment.

Assignment Type: Hybrid (4 days per week onsite)

Contract Duration: 6-month contract (Possibility of extension based on business needs and performance)

Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, and deploy custom software applications, user controls, and automation tools to streamline operational workflows.

Support, maintain, and enhance existing production applications and operational tools to ensure performance and reliability.

Develop intuitive front-end interfaces using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Build robust back-end logic, automation scripts, and macros using VBA across Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access environments.

Design, optimize, and maintain database objects, stored procedures, and complex queries within SQL Server.

Integrate application components and external services using standard API methods.

Participate actively in Agile ceremonies, backlog refinement, sprint planning, and daily stand-ups using Jira and Confluence.

Conduct code reviews and ensure all solution designs adhere to approved architecture, security, and software development standards.

Facilitate solution walkthroughs and present product functionality demos to internal business partners and stakeholders.

Partner with cross-functional teams to translate business process requirements into clear technical specifications and scalable software tools.

Qualifications
Core Requirements & Technical Skills
Development & SDLC Experience: Minimum 5+ years of progressive hands-on experience in software development and the complete Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).

Front-End Development: Practical proficiency in front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.

Back-End & Scripting: Strong expertise in back-end development utilizing VBA for process automation.

Database & SQL Server: Hands-on experience with SQL Server, including writing, optimizing, and tuning SQL queries and stored procedures.

Microsoft Desktop Database & Automation: Advanced proficiency in MS Access, MS Excel, and complex Macro development.

API Integration: Proven experience using and integrating API methods for data exchange.

Education: Post-secondary Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Preferred Experience & Assets
Agile & Tooling: Practical experience working in Agile team environments using Jira and Confluence, with experience participating in code reviews.

Financial Services Context: Previous software development experience within a banking or financial institution.

Process Improvement: Lean Six Sigma certification or background in operational process simplification is a strong asset.

Soft Skills & Delivery Attributes
Communication & Presentation: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with strong demo and presentation abilities to articulate end-product functionality clearly.

Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to work productively within supportive, cross-functional teams.
