Position Description
Surrey Place is seeking a detail-oriented student to join our team as a Quality Assurance Officer. In this entry-level role, you will work side-by-side with our team of developers to ensure our digital products are accessible, user-friendly, and function flawlessly. This is a learning-intensive role where your classroom knowledge of accessibility standards, user experience (UX) principles, and testing methodologies will be applied in a real-world setting. Prior industry experience is not required but an asset.
Main Responsibilities
The duties of the Quality Assurance Officer are but not limited to:
- Perform accessibility testing against WCAG 2.1 guidelines, conduct screen reader walkthroughs, keyboard-only navigation audits, and document remediation steps with severity and recommended fixes for engineering
- Conduct A/B and multivariate experiment analyses in partnership with Dev teams to validate design hypotheses, set up experiment instrumentation, and measure impact on conversion, retention, and key UX metrics
- Participate in user feedback sessions, internal product discussions, and design critiques
- Support responsive design efforts to ensure optimal user experiences across desktop, tablet, and mobile devices
- Assist in conducting UX research to understand user needs and behaviors
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
- A diploma or degree in Computer Science, Information Technology (IT), Information Systems, Software Development, Web Development, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and meet assigned deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an acceptable Police Records Check, including Vulnerable Sector Screening.
- Fluency in French is considered an asset.

Eligibility for this position is contingent upon meeting the following requirements:
- Must be between 15 and 30 years of age.
- Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada
