Join a purpose‑driven, high‑performing team in Scotiabank’s Consumer, Industrial & Retail (CIR) Investment Banking Group. The role is located in Toronto, Ontario and is a key position within Global Banking and Markets (GBM).
Global Banking and Markets
GBM is the wholesale banking and capital markets arm of Scotiabank, serving corporate, government and institutional investors across Canada, Mexico, the United States, Latin America, and select markets in Europe and Asia‑Pacific. It provides corporate lending, transaction banking, investment banking, fixed income and equity services, prime brokerage, FX sales and trading, commodity derivatives, and collateral management.
Position Highlights
As an Associate you will be exposed to a broad range of transactions, taking on significant responsibility and working closely with senior executives. The role requires initiative, diligence, and a dedication to quality, with a limited hierarchy and a small project‑team approach that fosters career growth.
Overview of the Consumer, Industrial & Retail Investment Banking Group
The CIR group focuses on leading Canadian companies across diverse industries, building relationships with senior executives and providing advisory on mergers & acquisitions, equity and debt capital markets, and other investment banking services.
What You’ll Do
- Evaluate and analyze the financial needs of corporate clients, including developing financial models.
- Create marketing materials and presentations.
- Support transaction structuring and execution, taking increasing responsibility over time.
- Identify and develop business opportunities with clients.
- Perform comprehensive financial statement analysis and maintain models.
- Collect, consolidate, and interpret company and industry data.
- Prepare client presentations, compiling data and assembling materials.
- Support drafting of prospectuses and related documentation.
- Apply product and capital markets knowledge to help clients achieve financial objectives.
What You'll Bring
- 3-5 years of experience in investment banking or M&A (preferred).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, finance, math, engineering, economics, science or technology (preferred).
- Strong quantitative skills focused on financial analysis, accounting and financial theory.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- High attention to detail.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high standards.
- Ability to excel under pressure and meet demanding deadlines in a team environment.
- High professional standards and integrity.
- Adaptability to new situations.
- High energy and eagerness to learn new concepts.
Work Arrangement
On‑site role in Toronto, with an expectation to work five days a week in the office.
