Job description
Adecco is currently hiring a Project Manager for a full-time temporary 12-month contract opportunity based in Toronto, ON. This role is ideal for an experienced project management professional with strong expertise in design, construction, stakeholder coordination, and infrastructure projects. If you have experience managing complex projects, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering projects on time and within budget, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
In this position, you will lead and coordinate projects through all phases of design, construction, acceptance, and commissioning while collaborating with internal teams, external consultants, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Salary: $40 - $45/hour
  • Location: Toronto, ON
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday | Hybrid - Flexible

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and lead assigned projects or specific project components through all phases of design, construction, acceptance, and commissioning for successful handover to user groups.
  • Support procurement requirements and documentation, prepare project documentation, and coordinate document amendments and approvals.
  • Contribute to issue and risk reporting, mitigation plans, and project planning while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders on safety, consultant deliverables, and project requirements.
  • Perform day-to-day project administration, including organizing electronic project files, maintaining project tracking spreadsheets, coordinating meetings, and managing project documentation.
  • Chair internal design review meetings and coordinate internal and external meetings to support project objectives and minimize customer impacts.
  • Lead risk assessments with stakeholders and conduct regular site visits to review work plans, compliance requirements, and construction progress.
  • Perform routine site inspections during construction using mobile inspection applications.
  • Attend offsite meetings throughout the GTA with consultants to review mechanical issues related to equipment used at the Network Operations Centre (NOC).
  • Support the safe removal of sensitive equipment, including HVAC systems, generators, and boilers, while ensuring operational continuity and staff safety.
  • Ensure construction activities meet safety requirements by reviewing work plans, monitoring site conditions, and ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) requirements.
  • Monitor contracts, manage vendor performance, and ensure suppliers meet organizational standards and project requirements.
  • Identify, monitor, mitigate, and escalate project risks and issues that may impact successful delivery.
  • Ensure approved project schedules are maintained and updated throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Monitor project scope, budget, timelines, and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
  • Participate in design and construction progress meetings, ensuring issues are tracked and appropriate actions are assigned.
  • Complete lessons learned documentation and identify opportunities for continuous improvement throughout project delivery.
  • Maintain effective project communications and ensure stakeholders receive timely updates throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Complete contract award documentation and collaborate with Commercial Vendor Management on approvals.
  • Coordinate with Rail Corridor Access Control (RCAC) to support projects within the Right-of-Way and schedule required access using project scheduling software.
  • Maintain a strong customer experience throughout construction and maintenance activities by mitigating customer impact risks.
  • Prepare presentations outlining customer impacts at stations and potential mitigation strategies.
  • Monitor and resolve customer satisfaction (CSAT) concerns related to active construction projects.
  • Collaborate with Station Ambassadors, Duty Station Managers, and Regional Managers to quickly resolve customer experience and safety concerns.
  • Attend training and professional development sessions to enhance engineering and project management knowledge and skills.
Qualifications
  • Must be legally eligible to work and reside in Canada.
  • Previous experience managing construction, infrastructure, engineering, or large-scale projects.
  • Strong project management skills with experience coordinating projects through design, construction, and commissioning phases.
  • Experience managing vendors, consultants, contractors, and multiple project stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of project documentation, scheduling, risk management, and budget tracking.
  • Knowledge of construction safety requirements and Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA) standards.
  • Ability to conduct site inspections and work effectively in construction environments.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience working with project management tools, scheduling software, and tracking systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and senior stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
