The Opportunity:

For the 2026-27 academic year, we are seeking a Spanish Teacher who speaks French to work in our Senior and Middle School on a full-time, permanent basis. The ideal candidate is an experienced teacher who will be able to teach all Spanish levels, with the ability to teach A1-A2 French (grade 7-10 core). In a community where social-emotional learning and diversity, equity and inclusion are key priorities, the successful candidate demonstrates empathy, creativity, strong communication skills and the ability to build a caring rapport with students and colleagues. The successful candidate will join the Modern and Classical Languages team and report to the Instructional Leader of the department.

This posting is for an existing vacancy with a projected start date of August, 2026.


Key Accountabilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Using a lens of social-emotional learning, create a class environment and rapport that inspires and supports learning and personal growth;

  • Motivate students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a solid foundation for further education in accordance with each students ability;

  • Establish positive relationships with parents, faculty and other staff members;

  • Ensure the written, taught and assessed curriculum is in line with the IB and Ministry of Education curriculum ensuring differentiation;

  • Develop culturally relevant, inclusive and responsive Spanish and French educational curriculum for diverse learners;

  • Develop course outlines, unit plans, lesson plans ensuring integration of all aspects of the IB Middle Years Program and Diploma Program Ab initio curricula, with a focus on inquiry based learning;

  • Update all necessary records accurately as required by the Ministry, IBO and school guidelines;

  • Communicate information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress including formally through report cards and parent-teacher meetings;

  • Keep up-to-date and incorporate best practices in subject area and approaches to teaching and learning through professional reading, participating in workshops and other professional development opportunities;

  • Participate actively in faculty and department/division meetings and meet regularly with all course teams to plan, review and update the written curriculum;

  • Assume responsibility for and participate in co-curricular activities and supervision duties;

  • Offer additional support to students outside of regular class time;

  • Participate as an Advisor, mentoring students and meeting them regularly.

Candidate Profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution with a specialist in Spanish, with French as an asset;

  • Ontario College of Teachers certification or equivalent degree with Intermediate/Senior qualifications in Spanish is preferred;

  • Experience in and knowledge of IB is a strong asset;

  • Strong curriculum development skills and assessment practices that incorporate strategies relevant to the age and stage assessment practices;

  • A relational educator who incorporates Social-Emotional Learning and emotional coaching strategies in their practice;

  • Experience and/or desire to incorporate principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in curriculum;

  • Embraces innovation and collaboration;

  • Knowledge of relevant technology and able to work in a laptop and online environment;

  • Adept at delivering an education program electronically and able to use electronic communication to correspond with students, parents, colleagues and the community at large;

  • Belief in and alignment with Branksome Hall’s mission, vision and values:

  • Possess strong oral and written communication skills;

  • Ability to work independently with little direct supervision and be a collaborative team member.

Target Hiring Range:

Placement on the Branksome Hall Faculty Salary Grid is determined based upon years of applicable teaching experience, level of education completed, and Additional Qualifications (AQs). The grid ranges from $70,903.08 – $101,270.67 for up to 6 years of applicable experience and $101,615.33 – $134,998.82 for more than 6 years of applicable experience.
