Job Description
The Site Superintendent supports the TBM operations in overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of tunnel construction activities. This role ensures that all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with design specifications and project timelines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise self-performance crews supervisors.
- Supervise subcontractor team on the area in their control.
- Supervise the logistics, stock and delivery on site.
- Ensure that HSE is always guaranteed by enforcing a safe work environment, implementing and monitoring safety protocols, and conducting regular safety inspections to prevent accidents and mitigate risks.
- Manage and coordinate all construction activities on the station project, ensuring compliance with project plans, specifications, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor the quality of work performed on-site to ensure adherence to industry standards, project requirements, and best practices.
- Collaborate with General Super, Project Managers, Engineers, and stakeholders to develop and implement construction schedules, work plans, and resource allocation to meet project milestones and objectives.
- Identify and address any issues or obstacles that may arise during the construction process, employing effective problem-solving skills to maintain project progress and minimize delays.
- Maintain accurate records of construction activities, including daily reports, progress updates, and any changes or deviations from the original plans. Provide regular reports to project management and stakeholders.
- Monitor project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, and assist in managing the project budget, seeking cost-effective solutions without compromising quality and safety standards.
Qualifications
- A degree or diploma in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
- A proven track record of at 15-20 years in a TBM/Tunneling construction supervisory role, preferably on large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of civil construction methods, codes, and regulations.
- Familiarity with site preparation and establishment, tunneling, trackwork, earthworks, concrete in situ and precast works, and utility relocation is advantageous.
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with the capacity to motivate and guide a diverse workforce.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to liaise with team members, stakeholders, and subcontractors.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to address construction challenges and provide practical solutions.
- In-depth knowledge of construction safety practices and regulations, with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
- Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Proficient in using construction management software, scheduling tools, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Acknowledgement and experience working in Canada
- Experience working in urban projects and union labor force.
- Possession of relevant certifications, such as First Aid.
