Job description

Description

You will be working on a flexible hybrid schedule as part of Fidelity’s dynamic working arrangement.

The work location for this role is 483 Bay Street in Toronto until approximately late 2026, when the work location will change to the new Mississauga office at 3 Robert Speck Parkway.

At Fidelity, we’ve been helping Canadian investors build better financial futures for over 35 years. We offer individuals and institutions a range of trusted investment portfolios and services - and we’re constantly seeking to find new and better ways to help our clients. As a privately owned company, we boldly embrace innovation in all areas as we continue to grow our business into the future.

Working with us means you’ll be part of a diverse and dedicated group of people who make a real difference for our clients and communities every day. You’ll have a wide range of opportunities to grow and develop your career in an inclusive environment where you’ll feel valued and supported to be your best - both personally and professionally.

How You’ll Make an Impact

As a Technical Lead, leading the execution and delivery of technology solutions and continuous improvements across Fidelity’s application landscape, in close collaboration with Fidelity’s architecture teams and in alignment with enterprise standards and best practices. One of the role’s first key mandates will be the modernization of Fidelity’s core systems, working alongside architecture partners to evolve legacy platforms toward more scalable, resilient, and future‑ready solutions.

  • Partner closely with engineers, product owners, and business stakeholders to deliver high‑quality application solutions that meet both technical and business objectives.
  • Collaborate with business teams to break down complex initiatives into well‑defined deliverables, provide accurate estimates for scope, timelines, and resourcing, recommend technical approaches, and proactively identify and mitigate risks.
  • Lead by example in engineering excellence by continually assessing code quality, architecture alignment, and operational risk to ensure robust, secure, and maintainable solutions.
  • Take ownership of producing and reviewing clear, concise, and comprehensive technical documentation that supports long‑term sustainability and knowledge sharing.
  • Contribute to the reliability of Fidelity Canada’s application portfolio by supporting day‑to‑day operations, including participation in the on‑call rotation, while continuously identifying opportunities to improve stability, performance, and supportability.
  • Analyze code quality and continually assess risk to ensure that high quality solutions are delivered.

What We’re Looking For

  • Completed University degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years’ experience as a fullstack developer
  • 2+ years working as a team lead
  • Experience in typescript/node or java/spring boot on backend, typescript/react/angular on frontend.
  • Strong experience building and designing systems
  • Experience leveraging artificial intelligence to solve problems creatively
  • Experience working within the financial industry is an asset

The Expertise You Bring

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts, decisions, and risks to varied audiences.
  • Independent and self-motivating with strong analytic skills and creative thinking.
  • Exceptional organization skills to plan objectives and strategies in meeting team goals.
  • Skilled negotiator to effectively streamline and solve problems.

Current work authorization for Canada is required for all openings.
