Job Summary:
As a P&C Actuarial Data Analyst, you’ll play a vital role on a collaborative Actuarial team, serving as the bridge between raw data and meaningful analysis.
In this role, you’ll ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of the data that fuels pricing, reserving, and strategic decision‑making. You’ll work hands‑on with large, complex datasets—premium and claims bordereaux, policy and claims system extracts, and data from manual or disparate sources—transforming them into clean, reliable, analysis‑ready information. If you enjoy being the “data detective” behind smart business decisions, this is a role where you can truly make an impact.
This is a hybrid position based in Toronto.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Clean, validate, and reconcile large, complex datasets to identify errors, inconsistencies, and missing information across multiple data sources
Process, map, and standardize incoming premium and claims bordereaux from various partners
Investigate and resolve bordereau discrepancies by collaborating closely with underwriting and operations teams
Provide data support for monthly, quarterly, and annual actuarial reporting
Act as a data investigator, identifying anomalies, tracing issues to their source, determining root causes, and recommending remediation solutions
Manipulate, aggregate, and transform large volumes of data using advanced Excel, Power Query, and related tools to prepare analysis‑ready datasets
Partner with actuaries to understand data requirements for pricing models, reserving analyses, and profitability studies
Deliver clean, accurate, and timely datasets to support actuarial decision‑making
Identify opportunities to improve data collection, validation, and processing efficiency; contribute to the development of best practices for actuarial data management
Maintain clear, concise documentation of data sources, processes, and transformations to ensure transparency, repeatability, and auditability
Required Qualifications
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS), Pivot Tables, and Power Query
Proven experience cleansing, manipulating, and validating large, complex, and often unstructured datasets
Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data accuracy
Strong investigative and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity confidently
Preferred Experience
Hands‑on experience working with premium and claims bordereaux
Familiarity with manual policy and claims tracking systems
Working knowledge of SQL for querying and data manipulation
Experience with data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
Basic understanding of P&C insurance concepts (e.g., written vs. earned premium, incurred vs. paid losses)
The base salary range for this position is CAD 55,000 - CAD 85,000 annually. The offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, experience, qualifications and work location. All offers include access to a variety of benefits to employees, including health insurance coverage, an employee wellness program, life and disability insurance, retirement savings plan, paid holidays and paid time off (PTO). This position is a current vacancy.
