OUR OPPORTUNITY

Govan Brown is seeking an enthusiastic Junior Estimator to join our growing Toronto team, focusing on Interior ICI Construction projects. In this role, you’ll support key estimating activities such as budgeting, cost analysis, and value engineering while building strong subcontractor relationships. You’ll assist with pricing, scope coordination, and preparing detailed, competitive bids. This is a great opportunity to grow your analytical skills, deepen your knowledge of construction methods and materials, and gain hands-on experience in the ICI interiors sector.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Assist with estimating and pre-construction activities, including estimate preparation, subcontractor solicitation, through to subcontract buyout / contracting.
• Work with project management and business development to determine budgeting, general conditions and strategic position for project opportunities being considered
• Help identify and communicate with subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing for tenders
• Review drawings and specifications and assist in preparing quantity takeoffs
• Support the review of project plans by identifying potential cost-saving opportunities and constructability considerations
• Participate in pre-construction activities, including attending meetings and assisting with budget and value engineering tasks

WHAT YOU BRING

• Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Architectural Studies, Building Science, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience in commercial interior construction estimating with a general contractor or construction firm
• Strong interest in building a career in commercial interior estimating and construction management
• Strong relationship-building skills, with the ability to develop connections with local sub-trades and an understanding of local market conditions
• Confident communicator with strong people skills
• Proactive, results-driven mindset
• Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications
• Ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines
• Proficiency in estimating software

YOUR ESTIMATED SALARY

• This role offers an annual salary between $60,000 - $80,000 depending on experience and qualifications, with final compensation thoughtfully tailored in the offer stage.

YOUR WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT

• Office location is 108 Vine Avenue, Toronto. This is NOT a hybrid or remote role.
• Exposure to construction work site environment in all seasons.
