Join the Future of Reliable Energy!

Are you ready to shape the future grid? Hydrostor, a leading energy storage technology and infrastructure company dedicated to developing utility-scale, long-duration energy storage solutions, is seeking an Engineering Program Manager to join our team in Toronto, ON. We’re supporting the development of a more resilient electricity grid and invite you to be at the forefront of this work!

Why Hydrostor?

Our cutting-edge A-CAES technology is uniquely poised to revolutionize the energy landscape. Join us as we lead the way in shaping a reliable and secure energy future.

Your Mission

As an Engineering Program Manager at Hydrostor, you will play a pivotal role in shaping, advancing, and operationalizing our engineering programs and long duration energy storage projects. This role is ideal for an engineering leader who thrives at the intersection of systems thinking, technology development, and cross-functional execution.

Your scope will span program oversight, engineering systems implementation, and product lifecycle execution. You will help build and maintain the technology roadmap and drive the development of engineering specifications in partnership with subject‑matter experts. This position will also contribute to the development of new products and technology pathways while coordinating closely with global teams, including regular collaboration with counterparts in Australia.

Your Day-to-Day Adventures

Technical Program Oversight

  • Collaborate with product, project, engineering, operations, and commercial teams to define program requirements, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure technical requirements are met.
  • Develop, maintain, and refine program management plans, including schedules, budgets, and performance metrics, ensuring timely delivery of technology solutions.
  • Support development and prioritization of the technology roadmap, focusing on vetted initiatives and maturing concepts into executable programs following a tollgate process.
  • Track progress across engineering programs, providing visibility into execution, risks, and alignment with strategic objectives, escalating issues as needed.
  • Lead Tech Reviews to foster collaboration, transparency and to make decisions with all relevant stakeholders.
  • Support Engineering Operations with rollout and continuous improvement of standardized configuration management practices across engineering.
  • Establish, optimize, and maintain engineering document control processes supporting traceability, compliance, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure configuration baselines are structured, maintained, and clearly communicated to cross-functional stakeholders.

Program-Level Control & Compliance

  • Apply program control tools and methodologies (including Fusion Manage and MS Project) to maintain consistency and predictability across engineering initiatives.
  • Ensure adherence to safety, compliance, and quality standards throughout program lifecycles.
  • Identify, track, and mitigate programmatic risks through strong planning and stakeholder engagement.
  • Support procurement, vendor management, and quality assurance for technology-related components.
  • Lead cross-functional engineering and technical teams, ensuring the right expertise is aligned to the right tasks.
  • Facilitate routine check-ins, technical reviews, and team syncs to maintain clarity, accountability, and momentum.
  • Collaborate frequently with Australia-based teams, including flexibility for early morning and evening calls as needed.

Operations & Systems Engineering Support

  • Support systems engineers, project engineers, and subject matter experts (SMEs) by enabling structured execution, documentation, modelling, and change tracking.
  • Act as a key connector between engineering, operations, and product/project teams to ensure continuity and smooth workflow transitions.

Process Improvement Leadership

  • Support Engineering Operations with process improvement initiatives focused on scale, efficiency, and quality.
  • Use metrics, data, and feedback loops to evaluate improvement outcomes.
  • Strengthen the integration and utilization of engineering tools, including CAD environments and modelling/analysis workflows.

Program Scheduling & Milestone Tracking

  • Own program-level scheduling using Fusion Manage and MS Project, as well as and other control tools.
  • Report on milestones, dependencies, and critical-path activities to drive predictable delivery, and escalate as needed.

Who You Are

The ideal candidate is an experienced Engineering Program Manager with strong technical depth (mechanical, electrical, or process engineering) and demonstrated capability in managing cross-disciplinary engineering programs. You bring a blend of tool expertise, analytical thinking, product lifecycle understanding, and operational discipline. Experience with PLM systems, configuration management, and engineering documentation is highly valuable, as is comfort working with modelling or numerical analysis.

You thrive in environments where you can drive clarity, advance technology development, and connect diverse engineering teams. Exposure to infrastructure, energy systems, or power generation programs is an asset, and you are comfortable collaborating across global time zones.

What You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Process, or related Engineering field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in an engineering program or project management.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management capabilities. Experience helping build or maintain a technology roadmap or leading early-stage product or technology development.
  • Strong numerical or modelling background (tools, workflows, or analysis).
  • Hands-on experience implementing/using PLM platforms such as Autodesk Fusion Manage.
  • Very strong skills in MS Project, Excel, PowerPoint, and comfortable navigating 3D CAD environments.
  • Experience with power generation, energy systems, or infrastructure projects (preferred).
  • Experience in product lifecycle management and new product introduction (NPI).
  • Ability to collaborate across global teams (including regular morning and evening calls with Australia).
  • PMP or similar certification is considered an asset.
  • $110,000 - $150,000
  • Discretionary Bonus
  • Paid Vacation Time
  • Medical, Dental and Vision Benefits
  • RRSP Program – with a match!
  • Employee Share Option Plan
