The SFA Tax role is primarily responsible for the delivery of statutory requirements for Canadian corporate taxes (all jurisdictions), as well as all tax accounting and reporting, also through working with third-party service providers, under the supervision of the Associate Director, NA Tax Compliance.

The SFA Tax role is also responsible for supporting the Associate Director, NA Tax Compliance in the indirect tax area including coordinating all government indirect tax audits at the federal and provincial levels, working with IT on system changes to comply with legislative/operational changes, and providing business support on indirect tax issues. Finally, this role also will manage the US and CA withholding tax compliance and reporting process for the combined North America region in coordination with the NA US International Tax Team.

  • Maintain tax general ledger accounts for the Unilever Canada business, including preparation of entries and reconciliations.
  • Support the Associate Director, NA Tax Compliance in the indirect tax area. The SFA Tax coordinates indirect tax audits with Federal and Provincial tax authorities and liaises with the tax auditors. The SFA Tax reviews the indirect tax reassessments and payments / refunds of HST/GST/QST/PST, interest, and penalties, as required.
  • Responsible for North America withholding tax compliance and reporting processes, including the review of the T4ANR (Canada) and Form 1042 (US) annual returns. Additionally, the SFA Tax will manage queries relating to the applicable withholding tax compliance requirements from external and internal stakeholders.
  • Support various ad-hoc Canada tax projects as required, including work related to acquisitions / disposals, process improvements, internal projects, indirect tax recovery projects, etc.

Requirements
