Senior Accountant - Tax & Internal Controls for a full-time, 12-month contract position in Ajax, ON (hybrid). This opportunity is ideal for a highly analytical and detail-oriented CPA with strong experience in corporate taxation, internal controls, and audit who thrives in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for managing corporate tax processes, coordinating with internal and external stakeholders, supporting audits, and leading internal control initiatives. You will also oversee a Financial Analyst and contribute to continuous improvement across finance functions.
- Pay Rate: $37.00 - $42.00/hour
- Location: Ajax, ON (Hybrid)
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
- Contract: Full-time | Temporary (12 months)

Responsibilities:- Act as the main point of contact and coordinator with internal and external stakeholders for the preparation and review of Canadian corporate income tax returns
- Manage tax consultants by gathering data, conducting analysis, ensuring deadlines are met, validating fees, and reviewing deliverables related to SR&ED, commodity taxes, and Quebec Investment Tax Credits
- Compute, prepare, and record Canadian income tax installments and remittances
- Manage the preparation and booking of tax provisions, including researching legislative changes and assessing their impact
- Review, analyze, and respond to communications from tax authorities and support tax audits across Canada
- Provide guidance to accounting and business functions on sales tax, income tax, and withholding tax matters
- Support intercompany reconciliations and ensure transfer pricing compliance, including maintaining up-to-date documentation
- Lead internal control initiatives, ensuring coordination between Toronto and Montreal teams and adherence to deadlines and quality standards
- Support harmonization of internal controls and liaise with global teams to ensure policy alignment and compliance
- Supervise the day-to-day activities of a Financial Analyst and ensure quality and accuracy of work output
- Support ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required
Requirements:- University degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- CPA designation (required)
- Minimum 7 years of experience, including 3-5 years in an accounting or audit firm and additional experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
- Strong experience in corporate taxation, audit, and internal controls
- Proven analytical and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
- Experience managing audits and ensuring compliance with internal control frameworks
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
- Self-starter with strong initiative and a collaborative mindset
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 tools; experience with SAP is an asset
- Understanding of AI impacts on finance/accounting is considered an asset
- Must be legally authorized to work and reside in Canada.
