We are currently looking for a Field Engineer to provide directional survey and core orientation services at exploration drilling sites.
This role is ideal for candidates who have experience in mining operations, enjoy working in remote field environments, solving technical challenges, and collaborating with drilling crews, geologists, and project engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Full training will be provided for the key responsibilities of the role, including the use of SPT proprietary survey technology, operational procedures, and data processing workflows.
Responsibilities will include:
- Perform borehole directional survey operations at mineral exploration drilling sites using SPT survey systems.
- Operating and overseeing directional borehole survey operations using gyroscopic and magnetic survey tools
- Ensuring accurate collection of azimuth, inclination, and depth measurements in diamond drill holes
- Performing continuous and multi-shot survey operations and monitoring survey quality
- Identifying and resolving magnetic interference or survey anomalies when required
- Supporting core orientation procedures and coordinating with drilling crews on best practices
- Processing survey data, generating borehole deviation and trajectory reports, and performing QA/QC checks
- Managing survey data using SPT software and the SPT Cloud platform
- Maintaining and troubleshooting survey tools and field equipment when necessary
- Collaborating with geologists, drilling crews, and project supervisors to ensure accurate borehole positioning and efficient field operations
Requirements:
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Geology, Geophysics, Mining Engineering, or related field.
- Experience working in mining operations.
- Fluent or native English required.
- Ability to work in remote mining environments.
- Strong mechanical and technical troubleshooting skills.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Immediate availability is highly valued.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in the mining operations.
- Experience with gyroscopic borehole survey systems and magnetic survey tools.
- Experience in diamond drilling operations.
- Experience with core orientation systems.
- Knowledge of directional survey techniques.
