Status: Regular, Full-Time (37.5 hours/week)
Program: Bloorview Research Institute
Salary Band: Band F ($41.61-$52.00/hour)

Join us in building a world of possibility

Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital is Canada’s largest pediatric rehabilitation hospital and a top 40 Canadian research hospital fully affiliated with the University of Toronto. Each year, we partner with thousands of children, youth and families through inpatient and outpatient programs that advance meaningful and healthy futures.

Here, you will work in an inspiring, inclusive and collaborative environment where innovation, learning and family-centred care come together. Holland Bloorview has been recognized as one of Greater Toronto’s Top Employers, Canada’s Top Employers for Young People and Canada’s Most Admired Corporate Cultures, and we offer competitive compensation, benefits and programs that support professional growth.

About the Bloorview Research Institute

The Bloorview Research Institute is embedded within Holland Bloorview and is the only university-affiliated research institute in Canada dedicated to pediatric disability. Our work is focused on transformative, equity-driven research that helps children, youth and families pursue personalized versions of a good life across the lifespan.

As part of the Research MRI team, you will contribute to practical, purposeful research that is deeply connected to real-world impact. You will also support a unique, custom-designed MRI environment for children and youth that is immersive, customizable, child-friendly and fully accessible.

As the Research MRI Technologist, you will:

  • Make a difference by supporting research studies that contribute to a better future for children and youth with disabilities, acquired injuries and developmental differences.
  • Experience a research-focused workflow that is different from a high-volume clinical environment, often with opportunities for more intentional participant interaction.
  • Spend time with research participants to answer questions, explain the MRI process and help create a calm, positive experience.
  • Work in a comfortable, custom-designed MRI suite created for children and youth, with an accessible and welcoming environment.
  • Use and develop expertise in research-grade MRI imaging, safety practices, image post-processing and data workflows.
  • Build your skills through ongoing learning, teaching, training and quality improvement opportunities.

What you’ll do:

Reporting to the MRI Charge Technologist, you will:

  • Perform MRI procedures in alignment with research protocols, imaging manuals and safety standards.
  • Support safe and efficient participant flow in the MRI unit.
  • Operate, troubleshoot and support quality control for MRI and ancillary equipment.
  • Complete image post-processing, uploads and Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS)-related workflows.
  • Collaborate with research staff, Principal Investigators, consultant radiologists and MRI team members.
  • Attend Research meetings as required.
  • Support MRI safety, education, training and quality improvement activities.
  • Perform cross-functional responsibilities as assigned, and other duties related to the job classification, as required.

What you bring:

  • Successful completion of an accredited Medical Radiation Technology (BSc. or diploma) program.
  • Registration with the College of Medical Radiation and Imaging Technologists of Ontario (CMRITO).
  • Member of the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT) or Ontario Association of Medical Radiation Sciences (OAMRS).
  • Completion of a recognized post-diploma program in MRI or recognized equivalent.
  • Ideally two to three years of clinical and/or research MRI experience; equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Pediatric experience is a strong asset. If you have transferrable skills from working with children and youth in other settings, we welcome you to share details in your application materials.
  • Experience with a Siemens 3T PRISMA or another research-grade magnet is an asset.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification and strong knowledge of cross-sectional anatomy.
  • Excellent communication, organization, time management, customer service and teamwork skills.
  • Able to work with minimal direct supervision and exercise independent judgment.
  • Proficient with Windows operating system and Office suite.

Schedule: This work may involve flexible scheduling (weekdays, evenings, weekends).

If you are looking to use your MRI expertise in a research environment where participant experience, education and comfort are central to the work, we encourage you to apply. Applications will be reviewed as they are received.
