Contract terms:
Available for a 6-week contract and as-needed relief to cover vacations/sick days, etc.
Hours are Monday to Friday, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., picking up children from surrounding schools in the Annex communities in downtown Toronto.
Responsibilities include:
Learning and memorizing multiple different routes on short notice to cover for absent drivers.
Conducting thorough daily inspections of safety equipment, brakes, mirrors, and fluids before operating the bus, collecting any lost belongings, and checking for sleeping children afterward.
Operating the vehicle in compliance with all traffic laws and school district safety protocols.
Maintaining order, managing student behavior, and ensuring safe loading/unloading procedures alongside Club staff.
Performing emergency evacuations and, in some cases, handling basic first aid or CPR.
Communicating effectively with Club staff regarding route changes or student incidents.
Assisting with cleaning the bus interior, refueling, and reporting mechanical defects to Club management.
Following specific, safe backing-up procedures (e.g., using hazards, checking mirrors, limiting backing up).
Qualifications:
Current B or F class license with 3 or more years continuous driving experience
Current Abstract (in good standing)
A Vulnerable Sector police check (within the last six months) or the ability to acquire one.
First Aid CPR-C or ability to acquire it.
