Overview
CarePartners is seeking motivated and detail‑oriented Summer Law Students to support our Legal, Privacy, and Compliance functions, with a strong focus on legislative and regulatory research. This role is well‑suited for 1L or 2L law students with exceptional research, statutory interpretation, and analytical skills, and an interest in the legal frameworks governing the healthcare sector.
Working closely with the Privacy and Compliance Legal Counsel, the successful candidates will conduct in‑depth analysis of evolving legislation and regulations, prepare research summaries and guidance materials, and support privacy, compliance, and contract‑related initiatives within a dynamic, community‑based healthcare environment.

- This position offers a competitive compensation grid, based on academic year level. The hourly range is $18.00 to $25.00, and placement within the grid will be determined in accordance with company policies and procedures, as well as the candidate’s knowledge, skills, qualifications, and relevant experience
What The Role Involves
Legislation/Legal Services
- Conduct legislative research, identifying relevant statutes, regulations, and policy updates.
- Support legislative comparison work, helping compile tables or summaries that outline differences between statutes or amendments.
- Monitor legislative and regulatory developments and draft applicability documents including summarizing how they apply to CarePartners
- Support the tracking and organization of contracts, including amendments, renewals, and version control.
- Prepare summaries or comparison tables of contract terms or requirements
- Assist with reviewing, drafting, and updating contract templates and standard agreements used across CarePartners.
- Support privacy program initiatives and assist in developing or updating privacy-related policies, procedures, and training.
- Conduct research on privacy best practices, emerging issues, and legislative/policy updates relevant to PHIPA and other applicable statutes.
What You Bring
- Currently enrolled in an accredited Canadian JD program (1L or 2L) and returning to school in September 2026.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated interest in healthcare, privacy, administrative law, or compliance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Able to work effectively independently and as a part of a team, both in-person and remotely
- Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and professionally with individuals at all levels of the organization
- Solid computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and e-mail
