Why is this role important?
The Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) Program Consultant provides expert leadership and strategic advice to advance equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility across the organization. This role leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of IDEA strategies, policies, and initiatives, and works collaboratively with leaders and staff to embed IDEA principles into organizational culture, systems, and decision-making.
What you'll do
1. Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of organization-wide IDEA strategies, frameworks, and multi-year action plans.
2. Serve as a trusted subject-matter expert and advisor to senior leaders, managers, and teams on IDEA-related matters.
3. Apply an inter-sectional equity and accessibility lens to organizational policies, programs, and practices to identify systemic barriers and recommend evidence-informed solutions.
4. Support governance, accountability, and performance measurement related to IDEA commitments.
5. Lead the collection, analysis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative IDEA-related data, including workforce and engagement data.
6. Develop and monitor performance indicators, dashboards, and reports to measure progress and outcomes.
7. Evaluate the effectiveness and impact of IDEA initiatives and recommend continuous improvements.
8. Design and deliver advanced IDEA learning, training, and capacity-building initiatives for leaders and staff.
9. Support organizational change management initiatives related to culture, inclusion, equity, and accessibility.
10. Collaborate with employee resource groups, advisory committees, and internal networks to advance IDEA priorities.
11. Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external partners to support IDEA initiatives and best practices.
12. Represent the organization on IDEA-related working groups, communities of practice, and external forums, as appropriate.
13. Provide mentorship, guidance, or informal leadership to junior staff or project teams, as applicable.
What you'll bring to the table
• Undergraduate degree in Human Resources, Social Sciences, Public Policy, Equity Studies, Organizational Development or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
• Canadian Certified Inclusion Professional (CCIP) designation preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of progressive experience leading inclusion, diversity, equity, and accessibility initiatives in complex organizations.
• Demonstrated experience developing and implementing organization-wide strategies, frameworks, and action plans.
• Proven experience providing strategic advisory support to senior leaders and executives.
• Experience in public sector, healthcare, education, or unionized environments is an asset.
• Demonstrated ability to apply an inter sectional, anti-oppressive, and accessibility-focused lens to organizational work.
• Lived experience, combined with professional expertise in advancing equity and addressing systemic barriers, is considered a significant asset.
• Advanced knowledge of inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and anti-racism frameworks, legislation, and best practices.
• Strong analytical, research, and reporting skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Demonstrated ability to influence, lead change, and work effectively in complex and evolving environments.
• High degree of judgment, professionalism, and cultural competence.
• Occasional travel may be required.
• Fluency in English is required, bilingualism in both official languages is an asset.
