About X-Force

Now, let’s talk about why we are here: X-Force! The team is comprised of hackers, responders, researchers and analysts, many of whom are world-renowned security thought leaders. We are looking for Associate Incident Response Consultants to join our Incidence Response team.

Incident Response is a team of experienced threat hunters, responders and investigators who specialize in incident preparedness, detection, response and recovery.

Your Role and Responsibilities

Are you passionate about threat hunting and forensic investigations? Are you looking for a fast‑paced environment where you can take part in global cyber incident response and cyber crisis management? Are you interested in joining an elite team of incident response consultants? If so, X-Force IR, IBM Security’s team of veteran incident responders, is looking for interns for the summer of 2026, and you may be the perfect fit.

Required Technical And Professional Expertise

• Outcome focused, possessing a high level of resilience, you demonstrate the flexibility and resolve needed to achieve success across a broad range of consultative contexts.
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• The ability to lead large groups and be a primary facilitator.
• Drive to do research, publications, blogs, presentations, etc.
• Ability to lead and shape client expectations.
• Ability to self‑start, and work independently on project.
• Knowledge or experience in one or more of the following Security Domains: Incident Response, Digital Forensics, Tabletop Exercises, Threat Hunting, Cloud Platforms.
• Experience in incident response planning.
• Demonstrated application of forensic analysis, memory analysis, and/or malware analysis.
• Proficient programming skills in one or more of the following: Java, .Net, Python, or Ruby.

Preferred Technical And Professional Experience

• History of published research, blog posts, or a history of presenting at local or regional security conferences.
• Knowledge or experience with artificial intelligence tools in the cybersecurity domain.
