The Programming Department, headed by the Executive Producer, is responsible for securing, servicing, and delivering TO Live’s rental business including corporate and private events, community and outreach programs, and TO Live Presents programming.

The Associate Producer reports to the Director of Programming and works closely with the Executive Producer, Director of Production, Marketing and Communications, Ticketing Services, and Development Departments. The Associate Producer will also collaborate with the Director of Indigenous Affairs and Engagement on special projects.

  • Create and prepare programming budgets for review with individual estimates for each department.
  • Prepare and review contracts for Presentations for execution by the Executive Producer.
  • Continually update “working” budgets with actuals as they become known, escalating budget issues appropriately as needed.
  • Prepare budgets for government grants and other development needs in consultation with the Development Department.
  • Liaise between production, administration and visiting artists, including co‑production and co‑presentation partners.
  • Reconcile and negotiate final settlement with co‑producers and presented companies.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

  • Strong communication, written and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail and highly organized.

Working Conditions

  • Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights and weekends as required.
  • Lack of natural light in workplace.
  • Travel between TO Live venues as required.

The Organization

TO Live is one of Canada’s largest multi‑arts organizations, operating three iconic venues: Meridian Hall, the St. Lawrence Centre for the Arts, and Meridian Arts Centre. In addition, TO Live presents a full range of performing arts, theatrical and concert events at these venues in both downtown and uptown Toronto. With these two hubs of creativity and content creation, TO Live has a unique place and perspective to activate creative spaces by inspiring local and international artists, connecting audiences and being the nexus for new ideas, elevating artistic potential, and acting as the catalyst for creative expression that is reflective of Toronto’s diversity.
