Who are you?

You are currently enrolled in an accredited Canadian university and working toward an undergraduate degree, ideally in your 3rd year at the time of the work term. Your program is in Engineering or Architecture, with a strong interest in infrastructure, construction, and project management. You are passionate about learning how projects are planned and delivered and executed.

Onsite/Hybrid

This role requires a full-time 40‑hour week, either in a hybrid or onsite work structure throughout the duration of the co‑op/intern term. Eligible candidates must be willing and able to be in attendance at our Toronto office and to attend client offices around the Greater Toronto Area as required. Travel outside of the GTA may also be required; flexibility to travel is desired but not mandatory.

Job Description

What you will learn

  • Exposure to major capital projects and infrastructure programs in Toronto and across Canada.
  • Hands‑on experience in a consulting environment collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Training in report and presentation development while enhancing your data gathering and reporting skills using data visualization tools.
  • Understanding of how projects are delivered and set up, including insights into project governance, PMOs, procurement delivery models, project control frameworks, and commercial aspects.
  • Strengthening technical, analytical, problem‑solving and client‑service skills.
  • Development of communication and interpersonal skills through collaboration with clients, consultants, and vendors.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement and teamwork, learning how to manage priorities and drive action items to closure.
  • Coaching and mentorship from leaders in capital projects.
  • Opportunity to deliver presentations to support team members across diverse projects.
  • Building adaptability, time management, and organizational skills across the business in a fast‑paced environment.

Your typical workday will

  • Support Program Advisory team members in advising public‑and private‑sector clients on the planning, delivery, governance, procurement and performance of major infrastructure projects and complex programmes.
  • Assist in developing project plans, creating project schedules and timelines, tracking progress, reporting and following up on action items.
  • Work with cost, schedule and risk data to help monitor project performance.
  • Conduct analysis, review data, reports and assist in preparing documents and reports.
  • Organise and facilitate meetings by preparing agendas, recording minutes and following up on action items, while assisting in reviewing, drafting and distributing project documents and deliverables.
  • Support the creation of program advisory materials, other tasks and digital content as well as applicable project communication as required.
  • Assist with project closeout activities, including documentation and lessons‑learned workshops.
  • Attend site visits and support preparation of relevant reports, when applicable.

Qualifications

  • Coursework and exposure to construction or project management is an asset.
  • Passion for the construction and infrastructure industry, with motivation to contribute to impactful projects.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and ability to review the quality and accuracy of work.
  • Ability to work with quantitative data: gather, analyse and collate data to develop reports and presentations.
  • Critical thinker with excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • A team player who embraces change and thrives in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook, Teams, OneNote); experience in visualisation tools such as Power BI is a plus.
  • Eligible for a formal co‑op or internship programme through your university; previous internship experience is an asset.
  • Curiosity about government policy, infrastructure funding and public‑sector delivery is desirable.
  • Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is required. Knowledge of French is considered an asset.

Additional Information

The base salary range for this role is $25–$27 per hour. Ranges are determined by role and level and represent a good faith effort to provide a fair and equitable salary. This range is a reflection of base salary only, not of a total compensation package. Please note Turner & Townsend reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range, depending on candidate’s experience and qualifications.
