Job description

At eBay, we're more than a global ecommerce leader — we’re changing the way the world shops and sells. Our platform empowers millions of buyers and sellers in more than 190 markets around the world. We’re committed to pushing boundaries and leaving our mark as we reinvent the future of ecommerce for enthusiasts.

Our customers are our compass, authenticity thrives, bold ideas are welcome, and everyone can bring their unique selves to work — every day. We're in this together, sustaining the future of our customers, our company, and our planet.

Join a team of passionate thinkers, innovators, and dreamers — and help us connect people and build communities to create economic opportunity for all.

This is an opportunity to join a world leader in mobile commerce and directly impact the lives of a global population, while increasing the revenue of eBay exponentially.

Our Android app, with millions of daily active users, facilitates billions in commerce transactions, and is the entry point for an increasing number of new customers. Your new team will be dedicated to delivering complete and innovative experiences to the apps that delight our customers and move the bar on the industry standard.

What you will accomplish:

  • You will collaborate with our backend teams building the next generation of our native application, helping product teams work faster, more efficiently and in high quality.

  • You will work closely with teams across eBay on their next generation features and technology.

  • You will be following agile practices and focus on continual improvement in our practices, driven from the ground up. We expect you to advocate for improvements in code and culture, and to support your colleagues in the same.

  • You will be working with team members and other teams, dividing up workload appropriately.

  • Partner and collaborate with other organizations throughout eBay.

  • As part of the team, you’ll also share your knowledge with the wider team as well as learning about and contributing to our core app experience.

What you will bring:

  • 5+ years of experience in designing, building, refactoring and releasing native apps.

  • Experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies and working in Agile teams is desirable

  • Able to own a feature of an Android application and develop it fully.

  • Proven experience with Kotlin/Java.

  • Experience with testing, pairing, code reviews, and other techniques to maintain high-quality code and resiliency.

  • Working knowledge of modern Android APIs, concurrency/threading, layouts, transitions, animations, client-side persistence, and architectural patterns for mobile apps.

  • Role will also support backend changes to rest APIs in Java and Kotlin
