2425-117The salary scale for Professional Support 2 is based on twelve steps that range from $58,639.38 - $81,978.79. New Professional Support may receive up to a maximum of seven steps for relevant occupational experience which is $70,397.

Do you love data? Are you committed to equity, diversity, and inclusion? You will be responsible for engaging with communities that have been historically under-represented in research and innovation and coordinating inclusive projects with NSCC's Applied Research and Innovation team.

This role includes relationship building, communication, collaboration, and support for industry and community partners who engage in research and innovation with NSCC.

You will work closely with NSCC's Human Rights, Equity and Inclusion (HREI) Office to analyse and measure aspects of equity, inclusion and diversity with NSCC Applied Research and across the college system.

As a key team member, the new Project Coordinator will support NSCC's six current areas of Applied Research (Geomatics, Engineering, Energy, Ag / Environment, Information Technology, and Social Innovation) as well as new and emerging areas.

A focus of the role will be building relationships with under-represented communities in research to ensure that access to innovation capacity from the college is more equitable and inclusive, and that research exhibits more of the diverse perspectives that exist in our region.

You will develop new approaches for Community-led and Partner-led research that incorporates diverse and inclusive ways of knowing, teaching and learning based on respect and openness.

You will work to gather, analyse, and report metrics that support these efforts. Over time, you will help develop and coordinate a portfolio of Applied Research projects that are drawn from the needs of communities and groups that are currently under-represented in college research and innovation.

You will work with a range of research staff, faculty, and students, and be supported by the NSCC Applied Research Leadership Team and NSCC Human Rights, Equity, and Inclusion Office.

QualificationsQualifications and Occupational Experience : A degree or diploma in an area relevant to NSCC Applied Research, or demonstrated equivalent relevant lived experience in Mi'kmaq or African Nova Scotia communities or occupational settings.

Candidates with a background or interest in community work and a capacity to learn are encouraged to apply.Understanding of under-represented communities and culture and / or experience accessing diverse cultures.

Experience with building equity and creating inclusion within and across projects.You have a minimum of three years (full time equivalent) of recent and related occupational experience related to project coordination.

You are comfortable working across the geography of Nova Scotia, either in-person or virtually, to connect with partners across the region.

Experience working in an institutional or an educational post-secondary environment, engaged in research activities, would be considered a strong asset.

Occupational experience that includes any of the following : community engagement, research or youth education related work, training or mentoring, strategic sector initiatives, and building community partnerships would be considered an asset.

Willingness to undertake professional development, learning with NSCC and external community partners is an asset.You are comfortable working in a digital environment;

you take responsibility for acquiring knowledge about advancing technology; and you are committed to using technology to create an exceptional student experience.

You are familiar with and comfortable using computer applications such as the Microsoft Office Suite, E-mail. Experience with MS Teams for remote work.

This adult education program is a significant investment on the part of NSCC in the learning and development of new employees.

To achieve regular status; all probationary, full or part-time Professional Support employees of the College must successfully complete the program within their probationary period.

Term full-time Professional Support employees whose term appointment is twelve or more months are also required to participate in this program.
