The Mental Health Worker providesa variety of housing and shelter services including case planning, programmingfor clients, assisting with daily physical and emotional supports, respondingto overdoses, administering first aid and Naloxone, accepting referrals,registering, orienting, and advocating for clients who are vulnerably housed orexperiencing homelessness.

We are looking for someone who has a genuineinterest in working with clients that may have been vulnerably housed in thepast.

In this role, you will work collaboratively with your teamto advocate for clients and provide them with client-centred support, includinglinking them in with external resources.

To succeed, you will have an excellent understanding of theissues faced by our client group. This includes experience working with individualsfrom diverse backgrounds who face multiple barriers, such as substance use,mental health concerns, low incomes, and negative impacts of colonialism andracism.

Qualifications

Education

Diploma in a related Human or Social Services field.

Experience

  • At least two (2) years of experience working in a related environment or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Direct experience in the community social services sector with a working knowledge of community support agencies and resources is preferred.

Requirements

  • Emergency First Aid with CPR Level C.
  • Complete the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General Criminal Record Check.

Job Information

  • Hourly Wage Rate : $32.18 - $35.49.
  • Please note : Base wage is $30.18 - $33.49. The overnight hourly wage rate includes the following premium :
  • ON Premium : An additional $2.00 for all shifts worked that cross midnight.
  • Work Locations 809 Burdett Ave. - Sandy Merriman House.
  • Work Days Saturday, Sunday, and Monday.
  • Shift Time 7 : 00pm - 7 : 00am.
  • Weekly Hours : 36.
  • Union : BCGEU.
  • Benefits : Eligible for 100% employer paid benefits. We offer comprehensive extended health and dental plans .
  • Job Type : Permanent - Full-time.
