Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager of Chronic Disease Prevention and Management (or designate) the Clinical Dietitian will provide clinical dietetic services to clients living with diabetes, and the communities they live in, throughout the Labrador-Grenfell Health (LGH) zone, to support and enable people to adopt healthy eating habits that will promote health and manage diabetes throughout the lifespan.

This position works closely with the Diabetes Nurse Educators, Physicians, Nurse Practitioners and Health Promotion staff and is an integral part of the Family Care Team collaborative approach.

Indigenous partners and communities are valued as important associates to deliver culturally appropriate programming within a population health framework.

Responsibilities include working in an inter-professional collaborative team environment to provide person and family-centered care that is evidence-based, comprehensive and compassionate, with a focus on improving access, optimal health outcomes and quality of life.

Required Qualifications :

  • Graduation from an approved college or university with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition or equivalent;
  • Completion of an accredited Dietetic Internship Program;
  • Must be a member of or eligible for membership with the Newfoundland and Labrador College of Dietitians;

Current BLS certification

  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision;
  • A valid Newfoundland and Labrador Class 5 divers license, the ability to travel and use of a vehicle is required;

Ability and willingness to fly into Northern Labrador Communities and other areas of LG zone

Additional Qualifications / Assets

Previous work experience within the last two years as a Dietitian;

Canadian Diabetes Educator certification or willingness to work towards

Knowledge and experience with Integrated Virtual Care in primary health care service delivery

Experience working in and understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities of rural health care services delivery

Understands systemic racism and applies concepts of cultural safety in engaging with First Nations, Inuit and Metis communities.

Salary :

CG-42 of the NAPE-HP salary scale, $40.34 to $47.53 per hour plus the Applicable Labrador Allowance;

Hours of Work :

75 hours Bi-weekly; Variable Shifts. Flexible work schedule to accommodate clients

A satisfactory record of work performance and attendance is required for this position.

The successful applicant will be required to submit a satisfactory certificate of conduct.

Regular travel is required.

Use of a private vehicle is a condition of employment.
