Job Description:\n\nThe City of Iqaluit is looking for a temporary Pool and Facility Operator to join our team! Title: Pool and Facility Operator Department: Recreation Status: Full-time temporary position beginning January 5th 2026 and ending May 1 2026 Salary: $38.74 per hour, 35 hour/week Settlement Allowance: $20,907.43 per annum Union Status: Unionized Closing Date: OPEN UNTIL FILLED The Pool and Facility Operator is responsible for overall building, equipment and providing a physically safe environment. Required Education and Experience Minimum Level of Education/Training: · Diploma, or certificate in Mechanical Systems (2 year) or another related field · Pool operators 1 &2 Course · Standard First Aid and CPR (c) · Ability to pass a swim test as set by the Aquatics Coordinator · Class 5 Nunavut Driver’s License · WHIMS · Ability to communicate in Inuktitut and/or French preferred Minimum Level of Experience: · Minimum Four to five years of experience with mechanical systems operations (building systems and related equipment) as well as facility maintenance. · Experience operating public pool facilities and pump maintenance. · Experience using janitorial systems and equipment (floor cleaning machines etc.) · Experience planning, documenting, and implementing both short- and long-term maintenance plans for complex facilities. · Working knowledge of building systems including HVAC equipment, building control systems, pool equipment, fire alarm and sprinkler systems, boiler systems Assets: · Previous experience working as a commercial HVAC Service Technician Additional Requirements: Security · Clear Criminal and Vulnerable Sectors Record Check; Indigenous Language · Ability to communicate in Inuktitut is an asset. Formation et expérience requises Niveau minimum d’études/de formation : · Diplôme ou certificat en systèmes mécaniques (2 ans) ou autre domaine connexe · Cours pour opérateurs de piscine 1 et 2 · Premiers soins et réanimation cardiorespiratoire · Capacité de réussir un test de natation établi par la personne responsable du Centre aquatique · Titulaire d’un permis de conduire de classe 5 du Nunavut · SIMDUT · Capacité à communiquer en inuktitut et/ou en français, un atout Niveau minimum d’expérience : · Au moins quatre à cinq ans d’expérience dans l’exploitation de systèmes mécaniques (systèmes de bâtiment et équipements connexes) ainsi que dans l’entretien d’installation. · Expérience dans l’exploitation de piscines publiques et dans l’entretien de pompes. · Expérience avec des systèmes et des équipements de nettoyage (machines à nettoyer les planchers, etc.) · Expérience en planification, documentation et mise en œuvre de plans d’entretien à court et à long terme pour des installations complexes. · Connaissance pratique des systèmes de bâtiment, notamment des équipements de chauffage, de ventilation et de climatisation, des systèmes de commande de bâtiment, des équipements de piscine, des systèmes d’alarme incendie et de gicleurs automatiques, des systèmes de chaudières.
