The project you will you be working on:

The Ontario Line (“OL”) is a fully integrated, stand-alone, rapid transit system that connects Ontario Science Centre to the Exhibition and Ontario Place grounds. The Northern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (“NC”) project consists of approximately 7 kms of underground subway and elevated guideway, with stations along the segment providing connections to surface bus and streetcar routes. The NC project has been divided into two main progressive design-build contracts: (1) the Elevated Guideways and Stations Contract (“EGS”) and the Pape Tunnel and Underground Station Contract (“PTUS”), with supporting Early Works.

JOB SUMMARY

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and health, possess excellent communication skills, and have a proven track record in managing subcontractor agreements and commercial matters in various contracting model in a progress design build project model (if any), or larger construction projects, infrastructure, rail, transit projects preferred.

RESPONSIBILITIES

•Demonstrate personal commitment to the safety and health framework, policies, and management system requirements and expectations

•Work closely with the commercial, construction, and technical teams, as well as subcontractors and external stakeholders, to manage subcontracts and contractual/commercial matters

•Maintain strong relationships and clear communication lines with internal disciplines, subcontractors, suppliers, and external stakeholders

•Participate in, prepare for, and lead internal stakeholder and client/subcontractor meetings for progress updates and commercial matters

•Analyze and prepare monthly progress claims for internal approval with subject matter experts or relevant discipline team leads

•Lead and administer small to medium value subcontracts, cost-plus subcontracts, and service agreements or as needed

•Lead meetings with subcontractors to discuss progress, address any issues, and ensure alignment with project goals.

•Draft and manage all necessary correspondence related to subcontractor agreements

•Prepare and process progress application and invoice approval in accordance with joint venture or project policies and processes

•Coordinate with the construction team to ensure that all subcontractors are on schedule and that any delays are promptly addressed.

•Identify potential issues early and work with the team to find solutions, ensuring the project stays on track and within budget

•Assist with mitigating, identifying, and evaluating potential variations/claims and resolving outstanding commercial issues and seek support as needed

•Prepare monthly financial reports and progress claims, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.

•Contribute to continuous improvement activities to enhance effectiveness and efficiency, encourage a supportive and collaborative environment that fosters innovation and improvement in progressive design build project model.

•Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company and joint venture policies and processes.

DESIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, COMPETENCIES

•Demonstrated Hands-On experience in subcontract administration in a large and complex construction project.

•Proven experience in subcontractor administration or a related field.

•Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.

•High level of accuracy and attention to detail in managing contracts and financial documents.

•Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

•Strong organizational and time management skills.

•Commitment to safety and health standards.

•Excellent presentation, oral, and written communication skills.

•Flexibility to adapt to changing project requirements and environment.

•University degree in Engineering or Supply Chain management, or a related field or field experience in construction project performing similar job responsibilities.

•Familiarity with contract management software and tools, such as SAP, SEO, Oracle, or similar ERP systems.

•Proficiency in managing subcontract agreements, including drafting, negotiation, and administration.

•Ability to conduct cost and price analysis, manage budgets, and process financial claims.

•Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

•Competence in identifying issues, evaluating solutions, and implementing effective resolutions.

•Skilled in negotiating terms and conditions with subcontractors to achieve favorable outcomes.

•Strong sense of integrity and ethical conduct in all professional activities.
