Job Purpose :

Responsible for delivering operational plans and setting day-to-day team objectives and applies effective programming techniques to optimize performance and maximize life cycle of all assets.

Resolves day-to-day is-sues / escalation points

Key Responsibilities :

  • Champion maintenance projects to ensure they are completed on time and on budget. Ensure the maintenance budget is optimized and maintained per plan.
  • Ensure an effective preventive maintenance program and spare parts inventory are implemented and maintained in order to reduce costs.
  • Communicates effectively to report on status of lines and equipment based on OEE
  • Provide proactive engagement in CCON Performance Board meetings & action implementation.
  • Provide strong leadership to the Maintenance department by coaching and developing personnel including providing feedback and conducting formal evaluations, to ensure the right level of skills, competencies and expertise to meet the agreed objectives and goals.
  • Recommend and provide training for Production employees (Process, Packaging and Sanitation) on Equipment Operation Procedures to maximize machinery reliability and output, and minimize downtime.
  • Ensure that all maintenance & facility activities performed & materials used are in accordance with standards & applicable legislation (CFIA, OMAFRA, CSA, OHSA, HACCP, etc).
  • Proficiency in ladder logic, structured text and other IEC programming languages
  • Experience with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Omron, Siemens)
  • Build and maintain a strong Health & Safety culture within the Maintenance department and support all departments in following internal policies to meet or exceed the OHSA requirements
  • Actively participate in CI meetings and CCON Improvement Catalogue initiatives, to perform estimated savings and project deadlines.
  • Work with other Supervisors to execute the implementation of investments, technology, and equipment needed to optimize Concord Dairy’s resources and efficiency.
  • Participate as a member of the Food Safety / HACCP Team, responsible for designating a backup during absence.
  • Work closely with procurement to source, contract and manage external suppliers and contractors to ensure any work performed does not adversely affect the quality, safety or cost in the Concord plant.
  • Responsible to ensure all contractors receive appropriate safety orientation and comply with the contractor guidelines and OHSA requirements.
  • Support Calcium and LEAN implementation and ensure engagement from everyone within departments.
  • Responsible to engage in H&S programs, by identifying and reporting any potential hazards, near misses and incidents that are observed, as well as supporting any corrective actions or investigations related to any hazards, near misses or incident.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Experience :

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience in a food production or related CPG environment.
  • Minimum of 5 years previous supervisory experience leading a Maintenance department.
  • Previous experience with high-speed packaging equipment, CIP systems, safety legislation, and preventative maintenance systems
  • Working knowledge and experience on Automation; Industrial Process and Control system; PLC; Measuring Devices; Instrumentation;

Robotic Application; Bulk Handling System

Formal Education Requirements or options :

  • Completion of a degree / diploma in engineering or completion of an apprenticeship program in a related area.
