Work Schedule: Afternoon Shift: Monday – Thursday; 4:00 pm- 2:00 am (38hrs per week)

Compensation

At S&C, we are dedicated to providing competitive and equitable compensation for all our team members . The estimated hourly base pay rate for this position is $24.25.

This position may also be eligible for S&C’s annual incentive plan (AIP). AIP amounts are variable and are dependent on both company and team performance, subject to eligibility criteria. The target bonus percentage for this role is 4% of annual base earnings.

Are you passionate about assembly? S&C Electric Company is seeking a dynamic individual for our metal-enclosed switchgear assemblyfunction. As an Assembler – MESyou will be crucial in ensuring smooth operations and supporting our diverse team. You will work in a production environment, engage in continuous productive activity and must meet requirements within predetermined time constraints. Tasks require the use of both hands and arms on a repetitive basis for a full range of motion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assemble basic mechanical parts. Utilize hand tools and power tools to fasten screws, bolts, and other hardware to secure components in place, ensuring proper torque and alignment.
  • Inspect mechanical components meticulously to identify any defects, ensuring they meet strict quality standards.
  • Maintain accurate records of tasks performed, deviations, and any quality concerns.
  • Adhere strictly to safety protocols while handling tools, equipment, and materials. Report any safety hazards promptly.
  • Complete in-house training to learn how to read basic blueprints and Bills of Materials (BOLs).
  • Use an overhead crane, ladders, and other material handling equipment to move and position materials for assembly.
  • Meet department targets and consistently adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with all applicable Company policies and rules.

What you’ll Need To Succeed:

  • 0-1 year of experience in assembly with a desire to learn electrical/mechanical assembly processes, follow assembly instructions, and use various hand/power tools to assemble products.
  • Proficient in performing precise and delicate tasks using hands and fingers. Able to manipulate small objects, operate tools, and handle intricate equipment effectively.
  • Good attention to detail, with the ability to determine accurate order quantities consistently.
  • Ability to work independently and meet requirements of assigned materials requests.
  • Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in a variety of production support departments.
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to review and respond to requests via internal applications.
  • Basic math skills with the ability to calculate measurements and weights.
  • Good interpersonal and organizational skills with the ability to understand and complete requests given by team member inside and outside of the department.
  • Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measurement tools.
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures accurately, reporting concerns promptly to the safety action team.
  • Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace.

Physical demands:

  • Standing: All tasks are performed in a standing position with intermittent walking.
  • Lifting: Frequent lifting of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs to 20 lbs.
  • Walking: Occasional walking moderate distances (less than 1km).
  • Carrying: Frequent carrying of items ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
  • Pushing: Occasional pushing of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Pulling: Occasional pulling of motorized material handling carts with loaded weights up to 1000 lbs.
  • Bending: Frequent bending and crouching to safely lift parts of various sizes and shapes.
  • Reaching: Continuous full range of motion from above the shoulders to below the knees.
  • Handling: Continuous handling of parts ranging in weight from 5 lbs. to 20 lbs.
